I have a 2012 RRS AB , When i first bought the car i noticed the satnav was a bit out of date and sent me to the sea when trying to find a place ! .

I went on ebay and paid for the USB update stick for 2017 , comes with a code that is linked to your car.

Install takes around 3 hours , the install did keep stopping for some reason so needed to restart it a few times but it is meant to carry on where it left off.

Once done around 4 months ago everything seemed fine, used it a few times to destinations where i had already used the satnav to .

The problem came when i went to enter a postcode to an address where i haven't visited before it displays the message "Unable To Perform This Request , Please Try Again" . This happens on every postcode ! , i went into the satnav program and wiped out the cache and restored system defaults but this hasn't seemed to fix it ! .

Has any one else had this problem ?

its probably defaulted to belguim after the update thats why its not recognising the postcode......change the map to UK and try again..

Sadly the Satnav is set already as GBR

thats a bummer...sounds like the ebay update hasnt worked then..


i wonder if re-installing the update might be successful the second time..

On my 2012my 2018 update it recommends you do it in one 3 hr session then switch off, leave at least 15 mins, then on again. Did it on a trip from west mids to Edinburgh. It can look like it is doing nothing for quite a long time especially at first but eventually it speeds up. Where did you source your key from ?

Most sat nav upgrades or updates must not be interrupted in any way,
if you had any issues with the 1st install then you will have to do it again.

Make sure you have plenty of time and make sure that you do nothing to interrupt its progress,

Not so, recent LR Nav updates that come on a memory stick are huge and the car can be stopped and restarted numerous times during the updating, the system will pick up where it stopped until all the update is completed, just don’t remove the memory stick from the USB port otherwise the update starts from scratch. Having said that the above only works with genuine OEM updates and is not always true for copies bought from a well known auction website. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

The sad thing is i cant reapply the update says the version on the satnav is newer than the usb stick.

im downloading a 2018 version , im wondering if my activation code will work with it.

Ok been looking at this update USB stick . I think it could be a corrupt file causing this ! So want to rerun the update i have paid for.

The 2017 version of the USB stick wont allow me to run it again , its saying the version i currently have is older than whats installed.

Been looking through the files to find out how it detects this . I have a copy of the 2018 update and been comparing.

These files seem to reference version

ALLDATA.KWI
VERSION.TXT

and possibly UPDATE.INF

I have tried replacing these with the 2018 version files, but i get the same error message . So i think its also looking for something else within these files.

I noticed all the Date modified dates are from when the map data was created ( At Factory) , i have now changed these to todays day... Im wondering if its reading the actual date on the data files ( like when it displays a music folder it lists them by modified date instead of by name ) . To Be Continued !

Sadly bought it from a ebay seller in June/July . I did ask him via ebay but no reply !

OK , managed to find a bit more info and it seems that when the update is done it actually replaces files completely on the HDD from the update source .

Im thinking a 2018 update could fix this ! so i am now going to purchase the 2018 update and see what happens . Another alternative was to buy a replacement android interface that would remove the satnav and replace it with an android box with 2gB ram, quadcore cpu and storage.

I think if this doesnt work then i might have to do that .
