Peanut butter (smooth) for cleaning rubber trims. Toothpaste for cleaning oxidised headlamps. Both work brilliantly. Wish I'd discovered both before spending £££££££s on car products. Barrie.

Hi Socast. Thanks for your post. Fortunately this has not happened - whether or not it's because I only used a little or it was the non-abrasive/non-crystallsied paste I don't know but yes, there is probably a risk of damaging the lacquer. I can only speak from experience.

It will have been abrasive otherwise it wouldn't have refreshed your headlights. It would be an idea to get them re-laquered as they will bleach pretty quickly. |

Can't you just clear coat them yourself??? The head lamps are really easy to remove and a can of clear-coat costs 20 bucks CDN... 3 coats and you're off to the races |
