SVR still not sorted!

My 2018 SVR has been back in again to have the same faults not rectified! Was told that it was a software update that was needed and that it would rectify the problems, went to collect the car and got 300yards down the road to realise it hadn’t, booked the car back in for another week and then was told that the drivers heated seat was working and all the electrical gremlins were sorted, this time I checked before I took the car and low and behold they are not solved, they are now talking about replacing the lower screen which I’m not accepting as the dash of a brand new car should not be ripped apart to replace the lower screen which has been a problem since handover! The lower screen is on back order until June along with both headlights that need replacing as the black outline along the bottom appears to be crystalysing!

I’ve lost complete faith in this car as it’s be problematic since day one! List of problems as follows:-

Rear tailgate fitted and aligned badly, realigned by body shop
Wheel damaged at the factory by tyre lever and needed replacing
Temperature gauge reverting to heated seat setting instead of temperature
Drivers heated seat not working
Both headlights need replacing due to crystalysing
Creaky speaker grill sorted by dealer
Wheel alignment needed as car went to the left sorted by dealer
Exhaust valve opens sometimes and not others
Fuel gauge can read 3/4 on start up then full tank 2 miles down the road
Graunching sound when reversing quickly due to loose trim, sorted by dealer

The dealer has been very helpful with the problems but there are times when you have to say enough is enough! Do people think I have enough grounds for rejection? 2018 Range Rover Sport SVR arrived but now rejected!

Assuming the car is not months old with lots of miles and you have had no real use of it as its been at the dealers more than with you I would be asking for a new car and rejecting it 100%

The problems don't effect every car so you have almost no chance of getting it all sorted out and will be told software bugs and no current fix forever talking from experience.

The car had the fault from day one which I was told it would be sorted, had to wait 3 weeks for them to order a wheel in which was on back order then nearly another 2 weeks to sort the software which didn’t sort then had it back for another week to sort software which didn’t! The car has only done 2,000 miles and that’s only because I’ve been waiting for the dealer to get the car booked in and provide me with a loan car! 2018 Range Rover Sport SVR arrived but now rejected!

Sorry to hear this Lee. I would say you are more than in your rights to reject the car ,you have given them plenty of opportunity to put the car right and they have not been able too. Headlights? that's a new thing, first i have heard about this.
Such a shame.. SVR 2018 in Santorini Black.

I would say that you are well within your rights to reject the car - FFS it’s >£100,000 vehicle it should not have left the factory with those problems, it should have been perfect. Land Rover wants to charge prices that the likes of Bentley and Rolls Royce charge then they have to be in a position where they need to prepare cars to the same standard and to not release them until they are perfect. They also need to train their QC staff to the appropriate standard. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Sorry to hear this Lee, pathetic that a car of this value (or any value really!) can leave the factory with these problems, didn’t realise that the main credential for working in their quality control department was to be completely blind. F***ing useless.

Lee,

Sorry to hear that the problems have not been resolved and by the sound of things, they don't look like getting resolved any time soon either. I don't know the legal / consumer rights regarding rejecting and can't and won't tell you what you should do.

But if I had the experience that you have had, I would want to reject it and be rid of it too.

Thanks for the comments guys, my dealership has put the case forward and filed for rejection to Land Rover so we just have to wait to see what they say, apparently they have 48 hours to respond! 2018 Range Rover Sport SVR arrived but now rejected!

Sad to read, but interesting how this works. Why does the dealer have to reject the car from JLR? Surely that's not your problem, but theirs.

It’s the way that the JLR to Dealership relationship works - you don’t buy the car from Land Rover you buy it from the dealership who are “agents” for Land Rover, so they also then have to reject it with the factory to get their money back as far as I know. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

It should be the dealers problem as that's who sold you the car (& who you have paid).
Their issue with the factory should be their problem!

I may be wrong but that doesn’t sound right.

Dealer is an independent business , they buy from JLR and you buy from them...ones sales contract is with the dealer ....you reject car with dealer, what they do after that with JLR is their business.

Least that’s my understanding ....I have rejected a bmw previously, my course of action was to reject with the dealer. 2019 Svr and 2019 R35 GTR

Your consumer contract is with the dealer not JLR, you need to put your intention of rejection in writing asking the dealer to arrange to collect the car and refund your money. If the car is over 30 days old they do have the right to deduct for usage
