I have had my RRS for over 2 months and I noticed that some chips have suddenly appeared after several washes in what I think it was a poor cover up of chips which was possible done prior to be sold. I’m going to touch them up again but I thought I better use a better product. So far I’ve come across with lots of touch up pens and also kits from chipex which to me sounds to good to be true. Anybody here got a recommendation for a long lasting product? Anybody used chipex?

I tried chipex on my previous sport. It was unsuccessful. The paint just wiped off. I am usually fairly good with these things I couldn't get a satisfactory result. MY12 RRS HSE

I also came across with a Land Rover kit from ebay for £20.50 for Zermatt silver but with so many stories on Fake Britain can’t trust ebay for a genuine product.

I`ve used the company Chipsaway in the past, very pleased with them. Obviously they`re a franchise and depends on the individual but I assume they`re all trained to the same standard  Steve.

Having done few chip repairs in my time, I find for best results you need to really clean the chip to get rid of the dirt and possibly polish/wax. Once you have got it clean you need to prime if it’s to the metal and then apply the colour. When it’s dry, remove any paint you may have got outside the chip and let it harden. Then use a good clear coat (I use a 2 part in v small amounts) to fill the chip above the original paint. When that to is hard I use a hard pad with cloth over it to polish over the chip and level the surface off. It is normally visible if you know where to look but it’s a much better result than just leaving it. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)

I’ve used all sort of different brands of paint and it’s all very similar, stone chips are so small it doesn’t really matter. It’s all in the prep and care taken. A good clear coat to seal the paint is a must as the colour coat is very soft and will likely get washed out. A 1k clear coat will probably work ok but I use a 2k coat as I have it on hand from rebuilding my bikes. 2019 5.0 SC SVA (Current)
