Not often we get snow down our way in the Chilterns but we've got a good 8" of the stuff today so I thought I'd go out and play on some of the ungritted single track roads around our way to test out my new AB SDV8 on its new Conti winter tyres which I recently fitted to replace the Pirelli OEM ones. I stuck it in Snow/Grass and used the hill descent control on the steep bits and I have to say it was brilliant. I didnt feel the tyres lose grip anywhere and the car romped up some pretty steep inclines

So is it the car thats brilliant or the tyres? How would it have done on the OEM Pirellis?

I`d say a combination of both.....but mainly the tyres  Steve.

An RWD car on good winters will dance round a 4WD on summers

One things for sure you have a great car fitted with the correct tyres for the conditions.  SVR 2018 in Santorini Black.

Was up the chilterns myself today too, I have M & S tyres at least so nowhere as goods as winters but was pleased at how sure footed she was in the snow.

Just think if half of those RWD cars had winter tyres even on the rear wheels and a couple of big bags of sand in the boot over the driving wheels they might not have got stuck....... I remember in the 1960’s my Dad always carried several heavy bags of sand in the boot of his RWD cars and rarely got stuck even on the less technical tyres that they had back then. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I'm in the chilterns too, and I'm lucky to have a small fleet of 4x4s

I've still got the SVR on its 22 inch summer tyres, and it behaved well, needed go in the snow/ice mode to make it driveable but worked well. Did feel it slide around a bit, but I'll blame the tyres, keep meaning to swap onto the 21s.

Also have a fully laden five tonne Mercedes sprinter 4x4 with winter tyres. Took her out quite a bit today and she behaved amazingly well - never missed a beat, never skidded. Was fantastic sailing past lesser 4x4s stuck on hills.

I really need to get some proper winters for the SVR!
