**HELP** weird noises and smoking under bonnet!!

Urgent help!!!
My 2005 RRS 2.7 TDV6 has started to make a funny noise and smoking. After about 20 seconds of running the car, it sounds like an air lock or even a fart in the metal unit behind the windscreen washer fluid filler and power steering fluid reservoir (under the bonnet) and after driving a couple of miles this morning, when I stopped at a junction, it was smoking a bluish misty smoke from the same area. After switching the car off, it sounded like a fan speeding up (sounds like its gonna blow!!) and produces a constant bad smell, like a burning smell.
I am really worried and am scared to drive the car! Big Cry
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!! Jak[/b]

I'm no expert and I'm sure others will be along shortly, but from what you describe is it possible it could be the fuel burn heater FBH.

I wouldn't worry.

Sounds fairly normal.

The smoke should be coming out by the wheel.

They start when its cold ~5°C and below to help warm the engine up.

If they haven't been run in a while they will smoke.

If the smoke doesn't get less you can aways disconnect its large plug

The odd smell is normal
