A few seem to use the GAP IID BT Tool, but at over £400...it won`t be for me. Steve. |

Unfortunately the best and most reliable and capable of most things is the GAP Diagnostic IID BT Tool, but as stated at £400+VAT it isn't cheap, but does do so much more, besides just code reading (which are recognised ones, instead of cheap readers which give generic codes which are of no use on these vehicles).

Yes, they can be used with any iPhone, but even easier to see/use with any iPad or iPad Pro model, it can also run although obviously not quite as well, or showing so much info at once, on the cars TFT display in between the Rev counter and Speedo, using the controls on steering wheel to go through the various settings/adjustments and programs etc. (Android software too). Good as a fall back, or if you don't have any Apple/IOS equipment.

I use the hawkeye from Bearmach, not as good as the GAP but I've never been stuck with it. They have a new one out now too, and the faults have the proper codes to them. |

Wouldn`t this be ok as a basic code reader without the bells and whistles?

Watch the for sale forum, seems monthly a GAP tool comes up for sale. I bought new and it's a great piece of kit to have without any major vehicle projects on the go. 2018 Telsa MS
