Plug in hybrid?. No! charger connected through tow bar elect

Hello all
As prep for winter. Bought a new charger, currently have a Absaar start and charge. It's like using a sledge hammer to break a wallnut, and ring 4 amp intelicharge which is not powerful enough. So bought a new toy.
A CTEK MXS 10, 2.5meter extension and tow bar adaptor.
So easy to charge the battery, no need to lift the bonnet. The Ctek chargers have great reputation for extending the life of all sorts of batteries.

I've got a similar set up. Only use it if car has been stood for a while. Works a treat though Thumbs Up Visitor from fullfatrr.com

I have a similar model...great for conditioning the battery once a year. Not sure if I could use it on the Sport though. Sure I read I`d need a better spec one! Steve.

I've got mine for over winter. The wife only travels 6 miles a day, three days a week. Using the remote pre heat twice a day will definitely give the battery a battering.
10 amp charger not big enough for you're sport Steve, what battery have you got!!?? Shocked MY12 RRS HSE

I`m not sure which Ctek I have...I think it`s a smaller version than the one in the pic. Not much use anyway as the Sport doesn`t fit in my garage Crying or Very sad Steve.

I have way to many important things in my garage to put the car in it (or maybe tat) that's why I got the extension and tow bar plug. Just back the sport up to the garage and plug it in. Charger stays fixed to wall in the garage while the lead feeds under the door.
4amp Ctek is perfectly acceptable, just takes a little longer, but the so called intelligent Ring one I have, keeps dropping to 2amp after 10 minutes. It never fully charged the battery. MY12 RRS HSE

That's an interesting way of doing it.

Did you buy their garage bracket ?

Currently got a make shift bracket, while I determine which is the most suitable bracket as there is a choice of 2. MY12 RRS HSE

Shepp, in the pic on your first post the charger is set to Normal charge mode, but is it not an AGM battery fitted? Would it be better charging on the AGM mode?

It has a Varta silver 020 fitted, not an AGM.
It was swapped before I got the vehicle.
I looked into it and there are pros and cons to either battery. Apparently the AGM ones will last longer if looked after properly, but that is the case with all batteries.
I have not suffered any strange side affects, that sometimes happen if not using a Landrover branded battery. MY12 RRS HSE

That is interesting, I couldn't physically fit a 020 battery into my car as there was insufficient room with out modifying the battery tray and moving the wiring and leads. Possible being a 5.0 s/c it's different under the bonnet I suppose, would be nice if you wouldn't mind positing a picture so could have a look.

Cheers
Col
