Has anyone removed the bonnet/wing vents,I’m wanting to get mine colour coded but not sure if they just clip on,I don’t want to damage them while removing,,thanks in advance

Mines a RRS2,,don’t want to pull them like that if they are screwed anywhere

If you look at some on the ones on ebay, you can see the retaining tabs and clips.

Andy, I replaced my 2008 with chrome ones. The instructions were to use a sharp upward and outward pull to release them as they are only held in by clips. But I still managed to break a couple of clips on one of mine! Didn’t matter to me as I was replacing them. In your case extra care needed.

Th guide from Powerful UK below seems to show that they are easier on the 2010 and later RRS

RRS2 L494 are a different design and a lot smaller - Andy have you searched YouTube for any PowerfulUK videos? It’s dark outside now so photos done with a Petzel Headlight



On L494 on the inner wing there is a torqz type bolt just behind the rear of the two air intakes and just in front of the foam of the bonnet seal - not sure sure if removing this single bolt on each side doesn’t let you slide out the vent.


In this photo I mean the left hand bolt - the right hand one is for the air intakes

Can't be certain, but can't see any screw fixings I thing the two pegs each end in the top picture are locating lugs, but may be screws from underneath as not sure what is directly under the bonnet vent, looking at Tim's Picture may be another grille screwed in place, but they do look like they are retained by the same style of spring clip that holds most of the dash trim in place as well, the one's that disappear in to oblivion when a piece of trim is pulled off. Doesn't appear to show any retaining clip or screw in the part's list either.

Personally I think I might have tried getting some secondhand one's and have them colour coded ready to swap over. also that way you could work out how they are attached, then sell the originals on. Only a suggestion.

The vent with screw in Tim's photo is the "Queen Mary funnel" vent that feeds the airbox. The side wing and bonnet top "vents" are just plastic trim pieces that serve no purpose other than cheap styling. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

The “Queen Mary” air intakes are also why L494 cannot be fitted with a Raised Air Intake or even a snorkel, the clamshell bonnet and the increased wading depth of L494 is supposed to be sufficient that the car would float anyway if you went in any deeper.......... and i’m Not volunteering to test it to see if it is enough...... 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Not sure I would describe it as cheap styling Wayne, expensive bit's of plastic at around £800.00 for four pieces at L/R prices.
