Since London sits under 50% of the Heathrow flight paths the air-borne exhaust from aircraft will cause more pollution than cars.

Interesting that the recent high levels of air pollution in the S East was traced to prevailing winds from Northern France. Preventing/reducing UK diesel car use will have sod all impact!!

Its a bit like the Anti-nuclear brigade who worry about the UK safety when across the Channel are loads of French reactors
