Problem after repairing locking wheel nut

A while back i reported on here a failure of one of my locking wheel nuts.
This was drilled out by main dealer and i had to have a new wheel as well. (all done under warranty).
Just washed car and noticed loads of rusty pit marks in the paint covering wheel arch rear bumper and rear door. So if you have the same problem with wheel nuts tell them to cover body work up.
Going to have words with them on monday.

Oh dear, that is not good. Just have a check around the rest of it though, because I have a silver D3 that has, over a couple of years, collected rather a lot of specks in the paint that look like rust spots. These are in fact ( I believe) metallic brake particles of other (and mine probably) vehicles that seem to have stuck firmly in the paint,(mainly on the doors and tailgates). They are an absolute swine to remove. Wouldn't want you to go in guns blazing if it's this problem, which I think all vehicles are prone to these days. Had the same problem with mine but the front. Called LR assist out and he looked at me as if I was a Censored not being able to get a wheel nut off. after about an hour he decided it would have to be drilled off, luckly not damage to the body work. Good luck with your claim exige1

Did have a good look round but its the only side to have it on.
Think they may have used a grinder and thats why they needed to replace the wheel.
would also explain the spread of the metal fragments.
its even melted into the glass.

I had this once before on another car where the garage did some welding next to mine. body and glass felt like sand paper.
