United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Arctic Frost
My Range Rover

As some of you know I inherited my sport when my Dad passed away in Febuary. I have now sold my Discovery 2 and am running the sport as my daily driver. So I thought it time to post a picture up of it. Its a 2005 2.7 HSE with the dvd screens in and tinted glass. In the time Dad had it I have done all the servicing, replaced the alternator, rear door lock, top tailgate lock, rear disks pads and hand brake shoes. Cam belts were done by an indi, and front bushes and a new compressor was fitted under warranty when he purchased it.

Your car looks very nice. How do you find it compares to your D2?

Thanks guys, its arctic frost, not a very common colour from what I understand.
Phillh, it is quieter and smoother than the D2, but I have to be honest I would trust the D2 to go anywhere. Although I know this is probably a more capable car, I cant help but feel it's quite fragile at the same time. With the D2 when I did any work I could easily check the Turbo and to be honest 200,000 miles isn't unheard of for their turbo's. With these it seems that you are doing well to reach 120,000, and you cant keep an eye on them.
Over time confidence in it will grow I am sure, I have sorted the parking sensors now and there is an EGR fault that wont go away, so a blanking kit arrived yesterday. A job for next week now I have sorted my daughters car out, her 1st car bought for a song but with a list of faults and warning lights. Humming like a little sewing machine now with no faults with little outlay, so turned out to be a bargain.

It was my left rear sensor that was playing up, I had my hawk eye reader updated as it hadn't got the parking sensors on it. When it came back and I read it, it said rear left sensor. I cleared the code and its been perfect ever since.

Thanks for info I think I will invest in a hawk eye Reader, but in the mean time I shall try and see if my snap-on reader picks anything up

squizzel,

I swapped my old D2 for my 05 RRS 6 months ago. I know what you mean, D2s are much simpler and easy to work on but not as refined. For the first couple of months, I went out to the car with trepidation wondering if it would start, I even carried a spare battery just in case. But it has been fine and my confidence in it is now pretty high.

I have had a quick play off road with the RRS and it was very good, the only limiting factor was the road tyres - I had ATs on the D2. I have blanked my EGRs already, fairly simple but access is a little awkward - it shouldn't take more than 2-3 hours. Throttle response from a standing start is much improved. Let us know how you get on Thumbs Up

I have GGAT's on this, Dad used to have a p38 (as did I) and he had RRS 18"wheels on it. He had just had the GGAT's fitted and the 19" on this needed replacing, so we fitted the 182 with new tyres on onto this car. Ride is comfortable on the 18" though, and speedo is bang on. The only real thing I don't like with this one is that my wife suffers with blown discs in her neck. The headrests seem to push her head forward, and they are not adjustable. The disco wasn't adjustable but it was further back. This makes it uncomfortable for her.
My confidence will grow with it, it has never been a problem since it has been in the family, but it's never done a lot of miles.

That particular sensor playing up is a common fault. The wire wears away and gets corroded, I've had to crimp a new piece into mine! 2006 Java Black HST Supercharged

I will give that a try, when I have done the EGR I can remove the bumper. There is something loose behind there anyway, right by the sensor but the sensor body is all intact, so I need to find out what it is and I can check the wiring at the same time.

L/R use to do one Part No. LR006515 not sure but think it may be obsolete now, could try Dan at Duckworths he would proably know . I can dig the one out from in my garage and post photo if you want to see what a genuine one looks like.

Cheers
