For me, a real RR is not a RRS, or a FFRR, it is a rr classic before air suspension was introduced. I had 3 of them (kept my MY1980 3door) all where fantastic off-roaders, fantastic onroaders (sporty and comfy) and compact in the city. All actual RR are to fat and heavy and too long and wide or to small and fancy, like RRE to be (for me) a real RR. That's why I find the velar interesting. It's sizewise closer to the original RRC and hopefully also good enough performing off-road. Without air suspension, it is simpler and gives a more direct road feeling. it could bring back the clean old concept, in my opinion. |

Who care's? A real RR is really only the Full Fat - the sport was not really considered one either but now they win pretty much every SUV battle in the car press (and generally too!). As long as the Velar looks and drives good JLR are on to another winner. People hate the Evoque too but the number's speak for themselves (I have one and think it's fab BTW). Anyway - reveal tonight - I will post pics tomorrow |

It's irrelevant what it's 'considered' to be, the reality is the L494 RRS is built on the FFRR platform, so it has the same off-road ability. The Velar isn't, it's a softroader, as is the Evoque. SOLD - MY16 SDV6 Autobiography Dynamic - Fire Engine Red, Fixed contrast pan roof, TV, Dual Screen, 5+2, Privacy, Noble paddles. |

I'm looking forward to seeing more on the velar, but at the moment I see it as a car, not an offroader. Probably much like 99% of FFRR/RRS and all the rest...

It's safe to say that the interior of L405/L494 will be changing very soon. Velar, a cheaper model, is significantly more tech packed! |
