I agree and will do that. Although I am not looking to change anytime soon, I promised myself my next car would be a downsize or at least a downgrade in terms of price so will see. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

I would say that a top spec Velar will still be no less than the AB Sport as with the Sport don't forget you will get some discount where i doubt very much there is discount on the latest toy not this week any way. Wink
I doubt they will drop the AB as all models have one so i,m sure it will be along in a few months time. SVR 2018 in Santorini Black.

Do you think that the Velar prices might be what kills the golden goose for LR in the UK/ Europe? Might they have gone a step too far in milking the brand? I would say that if you are thinking of changing your RRS the next 6 months would be a good time to do it before there are any more price hikes to separate RRS from Velar by a wider margin. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

On the face of it, you'd think so, but, despite austerity, there seems to be a limitless demand for them round here - I don't know if that reflects the rest of the country. Just taking ours out for a run yesterday, we parked in a local market town, and in a row of about ten cars parked side by side five of them were Range Rover Sports, including two ABs. I've lost count of the number of FFRRs round here.

I have pre-ordered a Velar (engine and spec to be decided) and put down smallish refundable deposit.

I think there will be a lot of demand, particularly for the lower spec engines and LR will have a decent order back book as they cannot make them fast enough.

If I do go all the way through and take delivery, I will probably keep it a short while and if I prefer my RRS (which I have not yet taken delivery of!), sell the Velar hopefully close to what I paid for it.

I thought I'd downsize as well. Embarassed I tested an Evoque, a Discovery Sport and an F-Pace and tried to convince myself that I really, really liked them. I slept on it and next day tested an RRS, did the negotiations and ordered it. Phew! Cool

Was a bit nervous about having ordered without seeing the Velar, Phew again. It's not a patch on a RRS and yet will cost just as much. I agree with Tim's analysis that Land Rover may expand the price difference between the Velar and the RRS by cynically increasing the RRS price.

The "not a patch" on the RRS comments will rapidly disperse once the car is seen in person. I saw it at the launch and it's a very special piece of kit Thumbs Up

But you didn't drive it so are you talking purely aesthetically? I saw the current RRS at ASNY where it was revealed. Sat in it, touched the controls etc. to get a feel for quality - everything with the exception of a test drive. Didn't convince me to buy it ... driving it on and off road a few times did (although I should add that off road capability wasn't a priority).

I guess the question is: with a decently spec'd one costing close to a similarly spec'd Sport AB, how many would choose the RRV over RRS, especially if they have experienced the RRS? For a base model with a lesser engine, RRV wins hands down if the price difference is significant there. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

I know what you mean. I tried the downsize or downgrade thing last time as well. Tried a smaller car (DS) and big but cheaper ones (X5 and Q7). Mrs. kept finding reasons not to go for any of those and to be honest I was a bit reluctant too so ended up with RRS no. 3 Thumbs Up Been pretty lucky in terms of reliability so it was easier to stick with it. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top
