2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

More likely the change of registration year on March 1 made your car another year older................

BTW, thanks for posting all the photos, much appreciated being a long way from home at the moment and not being able to stream video over the satellite link we use onboard. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

While the RRS certainly looks more 'classic' compared to the Velar's ultra modern styling, is there much difference between them? Flatter surfaces, less thick clamshell bonnet, elongated lights....Stick the Velar nose on the RRS and they will look the same, then the talk comes to the under pinnings. The Velar is a 'soft roader' underneath and will be more car like to drive, the RRS is such an awesome beast, very different.

I have been a JLR fan for a very long time, but the current FFRR/RRS was under Fords stewardship, it is old school car building, the newer TATA invested line up is built different, it is built to a cost, cheaper with higher asking prices. So much so I feel that if you want a keeper buy the older 'Ford' invested products, if you want the latest great, get a PCP and keep paying the money.

I would love a Velar, as I like the latest things, but this will never end, Velar, face-lift RRS, new RRS, facelift Velar, on top of all these cars getting new engines from the Ingenium range at some point rendering the current model out of date....tis the way, sells more cars as people change more often......

Anyway, my soecced Velar comes out at £73k OTR (how much is the new car tax?), my RRS was £76k list but a 10% discount, but the old RFL, we'll see what they offer if I go through with it.... Gone:

As I said before, Velar does look very nice ( I particularly like the tilting screen and deployable door handles, pointless gimmick I know but very Cool ). However, looking at the pictures above of RRS and Velar together, I am not seeing how RRS looks "very dated" in comparison Confused

I also spec'd a Velar as close as possible to my RRS and it touched roughly the same price that I paid for my Sport. It is NOT "between Evoque and Sport" for a decent spec (unless there is a massive price hike due for RRS). I imagine though many people will buy the base model without caring much for extras. They will still get the looks and the badge without having to pay a lot. It will be another successful model for sure. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

Very Happy Good discussions. Reminds me of the time the RRS was launched and the Full Fat Drivers dissed it as the Autobiography was more expensive than the base FF! Same issues here as the prices of the higher spec'd models enter RRS territory!

It will be interesting to see what changes come to MY 2018 RRS as a result of the Velar -
Price increase
Price increase
Price increase
Price increase
LED Matrix Headlights
Price increase
Price increase
Price increase
Price increase
New screens in the dash
Price increase
Price increase
Price increase
Price increase
Touch sensitive controls on steering wheel
Price increase
Price increase
Price increase
Price increase
2.0ltr 4cylinder Ingenium Petrol engine
Price increase
Price increase
Price increase
Price increase
Deletion of any colours of imagination - choice reduced to grey/silvers, wishy wsshy browns, white and black or £7500 extra "Flux" Grey/ Silver
Price increase
Price increase

One thing for sure there will be no Price drop. The way prices are going I will be looking at replacing my RRS with a 2.0ltre Mini Countryman I think, expensive but better value than an RRS/ Velar with an unreliable and thirsty 2.0ltr Ingenium 2.0ltr - £30,000 for a very highly specced capable 2.0ltr soft roader versus £60,000 for a capable 2.0ltr soft roader with a very costly badge on the tailgate and bonnet and options that cost a king's ransome.............. and the Mini isn't too wide to lock away in my garage! Even a low spec Evoque or Disco Sport now looks very poor value against the Mini for similar sized cars. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I wonder when a Autobiography version will be available?
Driving position is bothering me the most about it though.
I think a nice FFRR with a discount is more to my choice.
LOL i think you right Tim. SVR 2018 in Santorini Black.

I reckon the 'Autobiography' designation is going to disappear, just like 'Prestige' did.

This is on a different scale to RRS AB being more expensive than base FFRR though. Velar doesn't just 'enter' RRS territory, the one I spec'd was sort of equal to my Autobiography Sport and I have a few thousand £ extras on top of AB spec. The only thing I added to Velar that was more than my Sport was deployable sidesteps as I couldn't see fixed ones (that I have on mine) on the configurator. But still ...

I do realise it is almost 2 years since I ordered my current RRS and prices have moved on since then. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

You should try to spec a new RRS now to be really able to compare. '08 RRS TDV8
I converted my diesel RRS to run on an environmentally friendly mixture of caribou fat and baby seals oil

I am hoping it is because WBAC received a shed load of enquiries from RRS owners having a looksie when the Velar eas announced and their software has to tackle this as they 'guarantee' the price so have to assume that all those RRS valuations will result in sales to them and hence supply v demand dictates price falls.

Here's hoping, I for one couldn't stand to lose £7.5k overnight.... Big Cry Gone:
