CCleaner is a good one (stands for cr*p cleaner) ... and available as a freeware download - just type "ccleaner" into Google. A good one to run in addition to Adware.

Will remove everything spyware/adware/trojans and the lot, - and prompt you before it does so. Can also be set to clean up temporary internet pages, cookies and history.

Neither are anti-virus programs that monitor the system continuously such as Norton - which does of course work, but does also kind of totally take control of your system and still on occasions let's something through before pouncing on it. (Norton is also not free!) ... But Ccleaner and adware can be run periodically to cleanse the system and are dead easy to use

Agree - I had same - spybot sorted it eventually....Also I had a rougue IE program installed which needed removing through add remove programs - it mutated a couple of times but keep chasing it.

Maw you are a saviour! I have just spent most of the evening trying to fix my father's laptop which, while it will connect to the internet will not open any websites in IE. I tried all the usual Internet options and found that the cookies were set to reject and the privacy/ content to the highest filtering settings but even after resetting I couldn't get IE to download anything. I ran Spybot and it found nothing at all. The only thing I can think of is that he took the laptop to PC World for a health check recently and they have managed to reset something or get a worm/virus or whatever on it. I cheered to read somebody else has a similar problem. I think at the moment I'm going to have to uninstall IE and re-install it by downloading on another computer and copying it to my 8mb USB stick and re-installing that way............................

I've been away and catching up - if I helped pleased to hear it, sounds a bit different but hope you got sorted...
