So I see you've cancelled your RRS order and gone for the F-Pace instead? |

Have you seen the so called F-Pace in person? Your views will change when you do...I think 90% of you on here think the Velar is an Evoque/Discovery Sport type of vehicle but you will be surprised when you actually experience one |

I dont want to be nosy but can you tell us why you went for the Velar rather than a MY17 RRS or wait for the MY18 RRS? I'm on the point of ordering a new RRS and I dont want to buy a new car which will be upgraded in a few months time or buy a RRS when the Velar may suit my needs better. Also the Velar seems so close to the RRS in concept, price and size that IMHO it has to bastardise RRS sales which may have an effect on RRS resale values in the future. When are the first Velars due to be delivered to customers anyway? Have you been able to view a Velar in the metal? I must admit that I'm really struggling to see how the RRS and Velar fit into what is virtually the same market segment and part of me thinks that L-R's long term strategy is to phase out the RRS altogether. After all, I'm guessing that the RRS, which is fundamentally based on the FFRR platform, cannot be as profitable as the Velar, which is based on the F type platform, when both sell for around the same price. |

Even when their is a newer model,,it doesn't affect prices of old models greatly,,NOT everyone can afford new.Even some old 2007's are still fetching upto 17-18k with low mileage & in good cond.

Not being nosey at all. Yes, I have seen the Velar, sat in it and played with it but not driven it yet..If you go to the Velar thread I created in the other cars section you will see that I was invited to the launch event so got to see three different spec levels in person and I posted pics too. I am being cautious as to what I say on this forum as it is after all a RRS forum and not a Velar forum! There was already a huge back lash on the other thread! The Velar is only slightly smaller than the RRS, a bit bigger than the F Pace and much bigger than the Evoque. But in the higher trim level it's a class apart from all these models and dare I say even more special to be inside than a FFRR. The quality of materials used on the HSE Dynamic R inside and out are a class apart from what is currently on offer from JLR. The tech is fantastic and the car just looks amazing in the metal. As it's based on the F Pace platform (rather than the FFRR on the RRS) it is highly expected to drive better than a RRS too. I'm not the only one to think this - numerous you tube videos and press reports also expect the Velar to be a better drivers car than a RRS. I got an allocation for car number 1 thanks to James and his lads at Lookers West London so ordering this was a no brainer. I still remember the hype and not to mention the £££ premiums on the Evoque when it launched - any new car generating this level of interest will be a sound investment. I guess not every one looks at car's at an investment but if you can be sensible and buy and sell at the right time you can drive some decent cars without losing an arm and a leg in the process. I cancelled the MY17 RRS for the reasons stated in my post above and went for the Velar because IMHO it looks much nicer, uses nicer materials in and out, is expected to be better drivers car, it raises the technology game to another level (screens inside are amazing!) and as I get one of the earlier cars I'm not expecting it to lose too much in value over the 6-9 months I plan to keep it. The size is perfect for me too it's only 5cm smaller than a RRS. In fact I did a comparison of size using dimensions of other cars and it was exactly the same size in length and width to the E70 BMW X5 (the one before the current model) and that car is not small in any way - in fact mine (X5 40d M Sport) was a 7 seater version! After 6-9 months I hope to be in the new RRS enjoying the tech bought in from the Velar being passed down to the new RRS. Hope this helps - don't flame me guys these are all my opinions and I was asked for them ![]() ![]() |

I keep saying this to people - wait and see exactly what the Velar offers. For sure it will be quite a bit smaller than the RRS, and it is the interior space of the RRS that I like. I can see that while the ranges overlap, there is room in the market for both. MY2016 HSE D SDV6 - gone due to fuel dilution problems. Agree but had I taken delivery of an £84,000 RRS and gone to sell it in 5 months I think you agree that I would have lost at least £15-20k on it? if traded in... |

I follow all that, but, given what you think about the Velar, why would you revert to an RRS (even an upgraded one)? |

As it happens, I don't upgrade my phone every year, but, when I do, I usually like the new one less! |
