Tailgate beeps and won't close

On my MY17 RRS, occasionally the tailgate beeps and won't close when I push the button on the edge of the tailgate. If I use the keyfob button it will close. Any ideas please?

Mine does the same from time to time. Lock and unlock the Sport seems to sort it. Dunno why as yet... Gone:

Hi,

If you RTFM under "Opening and closing the powered tailgate" I think you'll find it's not detecting the key is within the 1 metre range when you press the close button.
