New purchase help

Hi all. I'm currently looking to buy a 2012-13 3.0 TDV6 but am having a little problem working out what the top of the range is as I thought it was a Autobiography but on the later cars I seem to be finding them called luxury.
I love the look of the HST style kit

Is their any must haves options on these cars and any to be avoided

Also I know nothing about the 3.0 Tdv6 engine but see that is the only Diesel engine available now but have seen a few 2.7 engines which have locked up so I'm hoping this isn't the case with the later 3.0 engine as I don't want to buy a money pit.

Any info you think I will need when looking please post as the more I know the safer I feel buying one.

Thanks in advance Matt.

Get an SDV6 with 8 speed box. Has a rotary gear selector so easy to distinguish from the earlier 6 speed with a lever...
Main dealer cars will have a 2 year warranty....good to have while you bed the car into your life Laughing

The later model with the round gear selector is what I'm looking for and I had also been told buy a few people that if you are going to buy one then pay a bit more and go to a Land Rover dealer as the warranty is worth everything compared to a what you would get from a second hand car sales site.

I want the top of the range with everything on it so think it's a Autobiography I need to find unless the top model name changed

Cheers for the info DRRob

Where are you based? You have a choice of dealers around Hampshire/West Sussex.....
Personally I like the non-bling look of a HSE without colour coordinated bits but then I'm old skool Rolling with laughter Visitor from fullfatrr.com

I'm based near Gatwick.. Have popped in to Harwoods this morning and they have taken my details as don't have anything in the Crawley branch at the moment but said if their is anything at their other sites they can get it in for me to view.

They told me to look a luxury models and black edition models as they were run out models and are loaded with kit but don't come with the HST style body kit like the autobiography.

Hi and welcome,

The Landrover approved 2Y warranty is run by a third party NOT landrover Rolling Eyes

go and have a look at a few cars and test drive them, see what Spec/options you like and go from there

As for money pits Whistle they are all that Laughing and like this forum it will tempt you to spend money on things you never knew you needed

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Firenze Red

Hi, I spent the better part of 4 months searching I wanted a specific trim, colour and accessories. Dec 16 at dinner my Autotrader alert went off and I bought a RRS 2012 Red from a main dealer in Scotland site unseen. Fantastic vehicle and Autotrader very can be very useful at times once you get through the rubbish. The RRS was delivered from the main dealer and I px'd my other car no issues, and was a fantastic hand over considering I'm in Surrey. Very pleased, keep looking!!

I've got a 8 speed, sunroof, 22" alloys, fab colour combination, Red, tan and black headliner, with main dealer warranty, FSH, all the books and bobs, full tank of fuel and a valet before they handed it over. That's real service.

Gary

I'm tempted to make the appointment to view the black edition on Saturday. The spec on it is fine but just missing the HST bodykit that you get on the autobiography which is what I really wanted.

You never know I might just prefer the look of it once it's there in front of me.

I have found a 62 plate autobiography which looks and sounds perfect from the ad so called the used car sales and tried to make an appointment to view it but am still waiting for the salesman to come back and confirm a couple of thing and when I can view it.

Only thing that's got me thinking is the warranty side of things. They are only offering a 6 month Auto Protect warranty.

Would this put you off when spending £35k on a car as used approved give 2 years. Only problem with used approved is no Autobiography cars and keep telling me a Black Edition is the same without the HST bodykit.

If it is only a 6 month's warranty then it isn't a Land Rover Approved Used Car - usually for that the car has to be less than 10 years old and have less than 100,000 miles on it and also usually a full Main Dealer Service History, franchise dealers do not like selling non LR Approved used cars off their forecourts and if they take them in as part-ex then they send them off to an auction or sell to a third party used car sales dealership. So take care if the car is being sold from a non LR dealership if having the official warranty is important to you. I have a neighbour who bought a high miles FFRR L405 Vogue SE SDv8 off an Audi dealer's used car lot, it only had 6 months used car warranty from them but he got a bargain as the car, despite being 5 years old and over 100,000 miles, was in as new condition with a full LR main dealer service history and had obviously been an exec's motorway cruiser as the rear seats look like they had very rarely been used. He got a peach of a car for a lot less than he would have paid at a franchised LR dealership and for the 5 months he has owned it so far not a thing has gone wrong. It's out of warranty and we have 3 excellent LR trained Indies in the area who can look after it for a lot less than taking it to a main dealer. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
