Headlights on all the time

I collected my 2009 3.0 TDV6 on Friday and I absolutely love it. However my headlights are always on even when the light switch is in the top off position and during the day in the auto position. This is more worrying as when it is in Auto during the day and the headlights should be off, they are on but they green light on the dash is not on, but at night when I have it on Auto the lights are on and the green light is on, so I presume the auto lights are working as they should as the green light comes on in the dark but stays off in the light, so why do my headlights stay on all the time ? Also if I put the light switch onto side lights the headlights do switch off and only the circular led lights are on which I presume is correct.
The final twist is that my high beam assist isn't working when I tried it last night.
Has previous owner used an override with a diagnostics tool or are my lights fu Censored d ? Big Cry Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

sounds very much like Scandinavian or Canadian modes set in the CCF

If you get the headlight switch to on, the main beam should work

WIth the engine running, park brake on, and in Park, are the headlights on ?

Spain

Sounds like, Canada Spec daylight running lights. Do the lights go out when hand brake on and in park ? In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Frightened away from the Sports due to crank failures
Gone - A couple of RRS, A couple of Disco's. However thinking of another Sport.

Hi guys and thanks for quick response.

Yes if I have the engine running, in park and handbrake on, the lights are still on in all positions of the light switch except the side lights where it goes back to the LED's Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

I presume then I need a BT iid tool or somebody with a tool that can reset the lighting. Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

Thanks Andy, I presume it is only a 5 minute job to reset. Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

Well.......I was passing Range Rover Stafford so I thought I would pop in to see if they could do it and how much it would cost.

They took my key and said a technician would have look at the car......even though I had explained all about resetting the lights with a diagnostics tool and that it was currently on a scandinavian setting.

The chap went out to the car and had a fiddle with the switches whilst I looked on from a very nice, dry and warm showroom.

The result of the technician that had been told what I had told him and him sitting in my car playing with the light switch was that it could be a faulty switch or a problem with a wire somewhere. I would need to book the car in for a FULL diagnostics check to see if they could find what the problem is !!!

I was tempted to say that the problem was either the technician did not know or understand what I had told him about the settings or that they see it as an opportunity to charge me for 4 hours labour minimum plus the diagnostics and then to change the setting as required. Instead I politely asked for my key back and said bye bye. Rolling Eyes

Have since telephoned an indie who will plug my car in and do what I need, will report later. Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

That sounds about right!

Not long after buying my 12 year old RRS I took it to local LR dealer to see if a tow bar safety recall had ever been done, having explained by email, on the phone and then face to face when I got there.

Later that day they sent me a quote for £3,500 worth of work that "needed" doing and no mention of the tow bar recall despite me asking again and again!!!

I would never, ever go back to main dealer. Have found a fantastic indie near me who specialises in Chelsea tractors and doesn't charge the earth! 2016 RRS SVR Estoril Blue
2005 4.2L Supercharged Java Black - gone but was my first love.

If we all point our RR's in the same direction and accelerate at the same time can we turn back time?

Went to the indie in Stoke called Landranger, brilliant chap there, plugged the car in, showed me on the screen that 'scandinavian was enabled. Simply pressed the button to disable, updated the records and job done. cost me £36 and happy with that.

Will be looking to invest in BT iid tool later in year when funds allow.

Another great advertisement for LR dealerships.

Thanks to the guys on here for your help in this matter. Bow down Bow down Thumbs Up Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

Don't you just love 'em?

Its worrying that some less well informed dealer customers are happily spending thousands keeping these inefficient morons trading. Robin
