2012 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Alaska White
slight lurch/judder around 2nd 3rd @ slow speed

evening all,
just registered on here to see if anyone has had this issue.
not all the time (about 5 times out of 10) and only after a few minutes of being started, at around 20mph low revs it will hesitate even judder for about a second like it is struggling changing gear but its hard to tell. it clears instantly and won't do it again maybe for a day or so. I've had the transmission inspected oil fine no fault codes but he said it drove fine at the time of test (typical). it done it to me this afternoon as i went over a railway crossing give it a small amount of throttle and it done it but this time it felt like it reved its self very quickly (not much) then fine, real annoying Big Cry it made me think maybe a throttle sensor but i have no real clue.
its done 38k all serviced and it throws no dash warnings.
problem being everytime i take it to be tested it behaves.

tim

On the old shape 2005-2013 there is a well known issue similar to your description. Cure might be a transmission control module software update. Best thing to do in this case would be take it to a good independent specialist and get them to read the fault codes and check for latest software version updating if necessary. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

yeah maybe,
after reading transmission software update threads the descriptions of symptoms are very similar indeed.
problem is it shows no codes what so ever when plugged in. would it show a code if in need of an update?
maybe a visit or call to the land rover technician firsts I've already been to a very good tranny indie (so i thought) Confused
tim
thanks for replying

No, the symptoms you describe don't usually cause a fault code to be stored.

My TDV8 had the low speed shunt thing when I first acquired it. Had the engine and transmission software updated, cleared the adaptations, cleaned the MAF and MAP sensors, changed the gearbox fluid, lubricated the linkage on the side of the gearbox and somewhere along the line the shunt stopped happening.

Mine also had another fault that plagued it for a long time - a momentary loss of drive weirdly occurring just as full operating temperature was reached and then regularly every 20 miles or so that turned out to be a faulty mechatronic inside the gearbox; possibly the onboard temperature sensor. Not yet heard of anyone else having the same issue so may have been a one-off. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE
