Holiday in your RR Sport

How do you guys find going on holiday in your RR Sports?

Any of you travel in Europe?

Do you find the car ticks every box in terms of convenience, comfort, commanding views, etc. etc.

Australia 2013 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Fuji White

Don't know about Europe, but I did 1,000km roundtrip road trip to Sydney a couple of years ago in my original RRS and it was awesome!

Have great memories of that trip exploring some beautiful NSW coastline...

Never felt tired getting out of it and it just ate up the kms.

Just booked to take my new RRS to Tassie for a spin today actually and can't wait.

Effortless. MY15.5 Fuji White, SDV8 HSE Dyn Stealth Pack

Sounds great.
Always wanted to visit Australia, and drive the gold coast.

Do you know if its best to drive it north-south, or south-north ? (South-North would have the sun behind you).

Do you mean the East Coast?

I think most people (I did it when backpacking eons ago) do it from Sydney to Cairns (or higher), more to do with it being the usual starting point I think than anything to do with the sun (there's usually a lot of that!). MY15.5 Fuji White, SDV8 HSE Dyn Stealth Pack

I've used mine on a couple of longer trips into Europe, skiing in Austria and Gdansk, Poland. 2 adults and three kids there isn't enough space in the vehicle but when my son and I drove to Gdansk. almost 1,000 miles each way it was the best experience ever and ticked every box possible.

England 2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey

Just returned from a 2 week 1600 mile trip in the Alps, fully loaded with 3 Adults and kit, roof bars with ski rack and skis and it was superb. Uber comfortable and I wasn't hanging around!
Faultless in the snow and ice and temps of -15 some mornings! Great all rounder and when the going gets tough you know it will just keep on ploughing through it! Ideal tool for the job Thumbs Up

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Java Black

We did a short hop last year to France, Belgium and Holland. It ticked all the boxes.

Not sure I would trust one of these on a longer haul to be honest. Get a 2005-2009 RRS (FAH500210) sat nav/dash mat here - the one that wasn't there when you bought the car.

Spiffing wheel centre caps available

What would be your concerns for a longer drive?

MPG? Reliability?

I did 2000-2500 and a few 600-800 mile trips in my first and second RRS. However, I never did a long trip until I gained confidence in the cars, after about 2 months of ownership. The latest one is now ready too so just a matter of finding the time...

They do tick all the boxes: comfort (being driven for almost 1100km in a single day and not tiring the driver is an achievement very few cars can claim), commanding view and driving pleasure (esp. in Dynamic and Sport modes). Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

Have regularly driven my various RRS's, FFRR's and Evoques 500 miles in a day between London and Central Scotland and further. I do it with 2 stops, British Motor Heritage Centre cafe and Gaydon Village Esso filling station just off the M40 J12 and again at Teebay North in Northumberland, if traffic around Brum has been heavy going then I also stop at Sandbach or Knutsford for a leg stretch/ comfort stop. Have also taken my 2 previous RRS's out to the Hebrides on windsurfing holidays with 4 adults, 10 windurfers with masts and sails and 4 mountain bikes on a trailer and all the clobber needed for 4 for two weeks in remote cottages either on the trailer or in a roof box. Great thing is the fuel tank is big enough that with care I can fill up the tank just before boarding the ferry at Oban and make a tank of diesel last 2 weeks without having to pay the hugely expensive price of fuel in the Western isles of Scotland and then arrive back at Oban to fuel up there for the drive south again. General have no complaints about lack of room/ comfort from the passengers who on the 0200 leave my house run to get the 000 ferry usually sleep all the way without any aches or pains (or none that they will admit to!). My RRS2 SDv6 HSE Dynamic is also much more fun to drive rapidly in than either ther previous TDv8 or 2.7TDv6 were that journeys also pass more quickly Whistle Whistle 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

I regularly use to take the Sport from Sydney to the Whitsundays for my holidays, that is 2,100 KMs
in 2 days one way and it use to cruise it easily.. about 3 tanks of Diesel, so averaging 700K's a tank.

Longest trip was nearly 4,000K's up the coast (Sydney to Cape York) and then back (although 200Ks
a quarter of the way on the return journey was on a flat bed due to a turbo actuator failure Evil or Very Mad ) but
once repaired it did the last 3K easy enough.. I would also say i have never felt really tired / aching due
to the seats and driving position, makes it oh so easy to soak up the Miles/KM's Another Pommie Bar Steward down under

Our car was less than four weeks old when we took into the Alps via Germany - and December 2010 was a very snowy time, if you recall! It coped admirably on the Contis. And that was when we realised just how awesome a long distance cruiser the RRS was going to be.

Since then we have done Bordeux as 4 x adults... Will still had room for some duty free. And as a couple down to Italy (where we had MASSES of room for duty free), plus other trips to Brussells, Lille and the like, plus most recently a trip to Normandy with our infant boy. It was on that last trip where - due to the size of his buggy - we had to get inventive regards packing. We still came back with 36 bottles of wine.

It has never missed a beat on these trips, but for the longer ones I have always had the garage give it a check over first and of course have European breakdown cover.

The satnav in Italy in 2015 was horrendously out of date. I now always use google maps or similar.

It's a shame you cannot easily adjust the headlamps to LHD. So I just use the stick on whatsits. L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso
RRS TDV6 HSE Lux (MY2011)... Nara Bronze / Arabica - now gone!
