Don't know about Europe, but I did 1,000km roundtrip road trip to Sydney a couple of years ago in my original RRS and it was awesome!

I've used mine on a couple of longer trips into Europe, skiing in Austria and Gdansk, Poland. 2 adults and three kids there isn't enough space in the vehicle but when my son and I drove to Gdansk. almost 1,000 miles each way it was the best experience ever and ticked every box possible. |

Just returned from a 2 week 1600 mile trip in the Alps, fully loaded with 3 Adults and kit, roof bars with ski rack and skis and it was superb. Uber comfortable and I wasn't hanging around!

What would be your concerns for a longer drive?

Reliability. Get a 2005-2009 RRS (FAH500210) sat nav/dash mat here - the one that wasn't there when you bought the car. Spiffing wheel centre caps available |

I did 2000-2500 and a few 600-800 mile trips in my first and second RRS. However, I never did a long trip until I gained confidence in the cars, after about 2 months of ownership. The latest one is now ready too so just a matter of finding the time...

Have regularly driven my various RRS's, FFRR's and Evoques 500 miles in a day between London and Central Scotland and further. I do it with 2 stops, British Motor Heritage Centre cafe and Gaydon Village Esso filling station just off the M40 J12 and again at Teebay North in Northumberland, if traffic around Brum has been heavy going then I also stop at Sandbach or Knutsford for a leg stretch/ comfort stop. Have also taken my 2 previous RRS's out to the Hebrides on windsurfing holidays with 4 adults, 10 windurfers with masts and sails and 4 mountain bikes on a trailer and all the clobber needed for 4 for two weeks in remote cottages either on the trailer or in a roof box. Great thing is the fuel tank is big enough that with care I can fill up the tank just before boarding the ferry at Oban and make a tank of diesel last 2 weeks without having to pay the hugely expensive price of fuel in the Western isles of Scotland and then arrive back at Oban to fuel up there for the drive south again. General have no complaints about lack of room/ comfort from the passengers who on the 0200 leave my house run to get the 000 ferry usually sleep all the way without any aches or pains (or none that they will admit to!). My RRS2 SDv6 HSE Dynamic is also much more fun to drive rapidly in than either ther previous TDv8 or 2.7TDv6 were that journeys also pass more quickly 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Our car was less than four weeks old when we took into the Alps via Germany - and December 2010 was a very snowy time, if you recall! It coped admirably on the Contis. And that was when we realised just how awesome a long distance cruiser the RRS was going to be.
