Steering gentle scratching noise?

Since I did some extensive work on the car over the last month I have developed a "scratching noise" when steering.
Its like a very gentle metal on metal noise when you steer around corners or on a roundabout, you don't even need full lock on to do it so greasing the "nub" as I've seen elsewhere doesn't seem to be a solution. Almost sounds like a hydraulic piston gliding back and forward which has dried out hence metal on metal noise.

I saw elsewhere advice about re-lubing certain steering areas to see If it helps but I cant find the topic anymore.
power steering is topped up and no visible cv boot leaks that I can see.

Thought it might have been this but despite extra grease it continues to elude me. Below 10mph there is no noise turning steering side to side but on standard urban driving it starts as a smooth glide to almost a grinding noise when turning a corner.
Due to trade in for a new model anyday and really need to get this sorted. Help?

Had two new rear tyres fitted today and asked them to check the front steering to see if they could advise me.
I know the pads all round are sitting on about 5mm. (Not clever I agree)

They said the fronts are "on metal", the rears aren't far behind. The discs also need replaced too. Apparently two front bushes have perished but they wouldn't touch it as its "a specialist job that requires disassembly of the air compressors"?!!

So they quoted £410 for all pads and discs fitted but the issue would still be there as the car is "pulling back" on itself as the bushes are gone.

I'm happy to replace the pads myself but the discs seem excessive, no deep scores just a smooth flat surface with a minor lip on inner and outer edges. I haven't researched the "specialist bushes" yet.
