Warranty renewal what a difference in price

Booking my sport in to a main stealer to get some warranty work carried out before my warranty expires on the 20th Now I did contact my local stealer some weeks ago (who I refuse to use anymore) regarding extending my warranty, he quoted me £1,200 plus an inspection of £200 which I would need before they would agree to put a new warranty on my sport. These guys I contacted today a completely different franchise of JLR quoted me £800 for an extended warranty without LR assist £1080 with LR assist they also explained that I wouldn't need the inspection (saving me another £200) if I purchased the warranty before my current warranty expires! Two very different prices for the same thing.... Is this normal I wonder? However it dose underline the reason I wont use my local stealer anymore! Cheers Laurence.

If you're going to buy the "Land Rover" Extended Warranty then you don't need to talk to a dealer at all - you just contact the warranty provider. It's done by a third party (Car Care Plan). If you're going straight from the manufacturer's warranty period then you don't need an inspection although they might want evidence of the servicing record.

Sounds like the first dealer is just trying it on; I bet the vehicle would just sit in his car park for the day with nothing done to it or looked at. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

So LR use a third party warranty when you extend your LR warranty via Car Care??? Cheers Laurence.

NOW I'M REALLY CONFUSED?!!

Took my RRS in to main stealer for a check re this shaking lark! They had it two days and told me nothing to worry about and they've done a software upgrade 'It's quite normal in cold weather' I was told! I assured the service manager it wasn't normal with Audi, Ford, Jaguar, VW etc that I've owned over the years! I received a printout from LR on collection with the the problem clearly stated and what they did (which wasn't much) If it dose develop any further after my warranty expires it might help me?

So what confuses me was while it was in LR workshop they did a complementary health check! I received a video (below) stating that my engine oil was only three quarters full? It had been serviced by my local independent LR garage a matter of 3 weeks earlier! LR didn't top it up for me and I haven't topped it up. Here's a photo (below) of the oil I checked it the next morning after it had been standing on a flat surface all night. Looks to me like its spot-on or is it?? Who's reading it wrong me or the LR technician?

Looks almost too full to me! Mine's never that full, it's more 3/4s on the gauge.

But you're not supposed to check it cold. Run it to temp then let it stand 10 mins, then check it. Or something. L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso
RRS TDV6 HSE Lux (MY2011)... Nara Bronze / Arabica - now gone!

Can you extend it past five years warranty, as long as it is under this time limit when your LR warranty runs out, or you start a new one before 5 years old and under 100,000 miles. Does anyone know? John

You can extend the warranty until the vehicle has 100k miles or is 10 years old. These milestones are only at the day of renewal so if it's 99,999miles or 9 years 364 days old on the day you renew you're OK for that year. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Many thanks for that, I feel at the cost of parts a Warranty is required unless you have a bottomless bank account. Thumbs Up John

I ran LR's extended warranty until my RRS went through the 100k barrier and they declined to cover it anymore. Now I "self-warranty". It can be painful at times... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
