It's coming in to summer, the March part-ex's for the new plates are trickling through, Tesla have no interest in your RRS, so don't t accept their measly offer. Putting it up for sale you will be pushed to sell due to not offering any finance, so keep or shop around. Why do you want that 'orrible yank tank anyway.

Vehicles are a liability, you just need to write off value and then decide how long you want to keep. These high end vehicles are bad because the next gen stumbles at the servicing cost alone. I work out what I think the value will be when I want a change and then make the balloon lower so I am not caught. M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW. |

Although you have changed up to a newer version it seems a lot to pay for the differences on the same year car? John RRS MY12 SDV6 HSE. Hi, I use to drive Audi RS cars and the trade in was always a pee take. Any prestige car takes a big hit !! I traded the same as you, but took a £7k hit over ten months.

You also have to factor in what the dealer already has in his used car stock. If they already have half a dozen RRS's that aren't shifting they will offer a low PartEx to put you off. Alway worth having a look at the chosen dealer's website or entry on the Used Land Rover locator to have a look at what they have. Since I started driving I think I have only owned one car that I got back what I paid for it - a TVR 450 SEAC for which there was a 3 year waiting list at the time, I also sold it through the owners club as there were only 6 dealers in the UK ion those days, and none in Scotland at all. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

In Australia it is nothing to do with dealer stock but the wholesale price offered buy vehicle wholesalers. Used cars trade as a commodity and can change in value daily. So when you consider a dealers business as a trader of commodity you start to understand pricing. Sealers usually offer different trade in prices but this is only the difference in margin between what the wholesaler will pay for your trade and the margin in the new vehicle. When you shop around you often find the trade price very similar, and in fact when dealers contact the wholesaler he will tell thenm what other dealers have called asking for a price.

Once you get above £20,000 in the UK, private sales can become very difficult, doesn't appear to be the cash buyers around now, many wanting to use Credit Cards or HP/Credit Agreements etc. You may be lucky, but I always prefer main dealer purchases. John

I totally agree with you Johnski,,not many folk will buy a 55k car with cash,,especially from someone they don't know. When I was looking for my sport I could have saved a few k buying private but I wouldn't get the 2 year warranty & piece of mind if anything goes wrong with car I can go back to dealers.plus like you say 90% of buyers want finance or get them on lease.
