United Kingdom 2009 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Autobiography Santorini Black

Weird. They had an excellent rep on the seatcupra forums about 6 years ago when I had my cupra r. You either went AMD or Revo.

Can't post it as need the car daily. Perhaps I'll take a long road trip.

With regards the others, I was reassured by Alive that there wouldn't be any issues and its a perfectly safe remap.

Thanks for the responses. Not had a remap before but sounds like a great solution giving both power improvement and fuel economy improvement. Can always check with insurance before proceeding but insurance seems to go up and up regardless. Question I forgot to ask was if there is any impact on the much treasured warrantee?[/quote ]

According to Alive tunings authorized dealer "Rovertune" you wont get any fuel improvement after my2010 Big Cry wonder how many other re mappers know this and dont say anything ?

Excerpt from rovertune website:

"Regardless of claims by some company’s it is now virtually impossible to improve the fuel economy of vehicles manufactured by Land Rover from 2010MY onwards, as they are fitted with a different type of ECU to those in earlier vehicles and are now factory set for maximum fuel economy. However, it is still possible to achieve substantial increases in power and torque for these later vehicles"

Strange, I thought basically every car was designed from factory to run rich to prevent engine det and the engine grenading itself.

Mines a 10 and the MPG improved following an Alive remap

I've been looking at getting my 2011 remapped especially for economy so was looking through the various " re map" company's claims
and like you I thought the fuel economy was possible following a re map

what extra mpg did you achieve deano Thumbs Up

It had it all stored in a MPG app but I upgraded my phone, it was around 2 to 3 MPG better off.

I would think they offer a map to maximize efficiency just as they offer a map to maximize performance. Best off speaking to Gary and explaining what it is you want.

They all use knock sensors and clever stuff to ensure that they don't get detonation. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Made an enquiry with my insurance company just to test the water on what their reaction would be to a remap. They classify this as blue printing "an adjustment to engine parameters to remove manufacturer limits such as speed limits" and as such would withdraw insurance if this was to be carried out. So basically if I get e car remapped I won't get insurance, at least not at a reasonable rate.
Are there any reasonably priced insurers that would allow this? -----------------------------------------------

Sky were efficient and helpful. Twice my current insurance rate unfortunately but would consider if I decide to go for the remap.

Thanks for the tip Delano -----------------------------------------------

I'd have thought the insurance was a bit of a grey area
For example, first of all they'd have to prove the car was remapped
Would they do this? Would they even know to? I know people who have claimed for warranty items when having a remap with no issue.

Secondly, what would happen if someone bought a car with a remap without knowing so, and then subsequently insured it?

I am getting just under an extra 6mpg since the remap.

You're throwing diesel and petrol engines into one bag, and they are very different. If you run a diesel "rich", you end up with black clouds of smoke. It's a totally different strategy in diesel and petrol setups. Regards etc.,

Tend to agree (ish) on the insurance

Is the 6mpg gain based on the trip computer reading or a true calculation based on full tank to full tank and miles driven?
Sorely tempted. -----------------------------------------------

How would the insurance even find out? I cant see them going to the effort of running a systems analysis on the ECU
