United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Sport Supercharged HSE Stornoway Grey
Suspension problem

Over the last 4 days I have had the yellow warning light with picture of car and arrows over roof come on 3 times info display telling me normal height only
Could someone let me know any info on this problem

Sounds like the start of EAS compressor failure Big Cry it's located just in front of the near side rear wheel under the body - from start up get someone to lower - raise the suspension from within the cab. A good indicator is a noisy compressor if it struggles to raise quietly it will need more investigation Big Cry but seems likely to be the cause of your issue.

If you are really lucky like I was a reset of all fault codes cleared this fault, it was comming in on my one nearly every time I drove it but reset each time I turned the key on and off.
It went to the garage any they cleared out all the old fault codes, that was about 5 months ago and it has never surfaced again.

Not realising it was a problem I have heard the pump working for a while if pump is damaged will it be a garage job or diy as I have mechanic abilities and a iidtool to reset codes

Its a DIY job and some good how to guides on Disco 3 forum (same car essentially)....I'm no expert but from my reading its best to get a new one fitted and not try and repair yours.
Hitachi was replaced by a better AMK unit on later cars. AMK can be fitted to earlier cars but they also need a software update IIRC....

I have the early type compressor on mine, which had the same issues that you are having. I bought the service kit, and replaced the pump piston ring etc. It's run faultlessly ever since.

The only tricky bit is getting to the top mounting bolt on the compressor mount. I had to tape the bolt to a small socket extension, then managed to feed a small spanner up between the compressor body and chassis to tighten. Oh, and releasing the air pipes needs a bit of practice too Thumbs Up

Last night I cleared the fault codes then re wrote flash software to pump and body control ecu suspension semis softer as did get quite stiff feeling bumps more
I will see if light comes on again and if it does I have seen repair kit to repair piston and replace filter in dryer unit

DYI. I am planning to do it tomorrow on mine. Bought this kit: https://x8r.co.uk/land-rover-discovery-3-4...d-cap.html (has both all the seals and drier silicone, as well as the upgraded top cap, which very often develops a hairline crack and allows air to escape, resulting in symptoms as described). I plan to follow these guides:

Quick update: I stand corrected.

NOT a DIY job if you have no bloody idea how to properly disconnect the inlet tubes. Which happened to be my case.

Also, 3 of 4 screws that hold the compressor cylinder snapped, making the repair impossible.

Another snapped screw was on the bracket (the one of three holding the actual compressor assembly to the bracket).

Surprisingly, none of the bracket-to-frame screws snapped, the top one (above the compressor) was a PITA, though.

The drier part was kinda easier (make sure to vacuum out the residue), a few things though:
- the upgraded x8r filter has a screw+nut to hold it together, the screw is too short and the metal parts of the filter need to be punched once or twice in order to compress it and allow the nut on the screw.
- the gasket on the excellent aluminium replacement lid is almost too big to fit. You need to carefully position it on the drier and then tighten the screws in sequence, watching the gasket for the proper fit. Takes tens of minutes to do it properly.

So, I'm kinda satisfied, but since I broke (I did it - so it's not x8r's fault) the connectors and snapped the screws, my compressor is being sent for an emergency repair. DAMN ME! Regards etc.,

Fixed it.

Combined two compressors into one, fitted it myself (the third screw is by far the most stupid thing I have ever seen on a car). Developed more cuts and bruises in the process. But... it works. No more yellow warning light and "suspension fault normal height only" errors. Regards etc.,

I have removed my compressor but 1 of the rear pipe connections was seised thus the pipe has snapped leaving the insert in the compressor not able to remove
Any suggestions how to sort this problem out

the return pipes I just cut mine off and when refitting just joined them with rubber hoses spiteful Range Rover Sport tdv8
