All 2007 models has disabeled the automatic ON for the PDC (PARKING AID CONTROL)
They have change this after alot of customers complaint that when the speed drops below 16kph(10mph) and I qoute"This can give instances of sensor warnings when the vehicle stops at a junction and another vehicle or pedestrian passes in front of the vehicle, resulting inthe above complaint.This is not a fault with the parking system, however, an alternative system strategy is available so that the system operation is canceled when the vehicle speed is above 10mph (16kph) and will not operate again until the vehicle speed is below 10mph (16kph) and the fascia front parking aid switch is selected (or until a forward gear is selected following reverse gear selection during parking)."

So this is how the "new" PDC works.
1. U must choose R (revers) and then D (drive) the PDC turns itself on, when
been parkered!
2. for the PDC to work without using R (revers) U have to use the fascia front
parking aid switch. youre speed has to be below 16kph(10mph)

When U reach a speed over 16kph(10mph) the PDC will automaticly turn itself off and will stay off even after the cars speed drops below 10mph (16kph).
I U need the PDC U have to either put it in revers or press fascia front
parking aid switch.

I asked som Norwegian LR delears if they knew about the "new" PDC feature and they didn`t they assumed it was working the old automatic way!

July 19 LR`S GTR site posted this for customers that complained about sensor warnings when the vehicle stops at a junction and another vehicle or pedestrian passes in front of the vehicle.

A customer may report a concern that the front parking aid system sounds unnecessarily.
Cause: The current system strategy means that the front parking sensors will operate when a
forward gear is selected following reverse. Sensor operation is canceled when the
vehicle speed is above 10mph (16kph) but will operate again if the speed drops below 10mph (16kph). This can give instances of sensor warnings when the vehicle stops at a junction and another vehicle or pedestrian passes in front of the vehicle, resulting in the above complaint. detailed in this bulletin to renew the parking aid system control module. The new

We have to make LR understand that those of us that want the automatic PDC back should be treated with the same respect that the complaimers got.
I want LR to make the same moduel avaible to us that makes the PDC automatic again.

Why couldn`t they make it an i feature like overspeed warning and lazy entry.
So we could choose automatic PDC ON or OFF

SO WRITE TO LR LIKE ME AT GIVE THEM YOURE PICE OF MIND

My 06 RRS is like this. Not a problem. I quite like it turning off as people stop so damn close when in a queue anyway.

I just turn it off each time a start the vehicle - works for me... But for the first few weeks the "sheep alert" was a bit disappointing  2014 Mercedes-Benz S500

I had my 1yr old RRS S/C converted/upgraded to this sequence only last week when I took it in for its 1st service. [ all done under warranty ] - as you say , too many people complained of false BEEPS from the damn system esp from the front. So all that is needed is to book your car in and ask for the new pdc module to be fitted [ refer to my RRS link 1st service to do list ] http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic3976.html

I prefer it without!

But it would be a good idea to have it switchable like you say!

They could do one touch close while their at it!
