Rear prop rubber

hi all, just inspected my rear propshaft rubber bearing and found the rubber to be shot, can anyone tell me if it's still best to change propshaft rather than try change rubber & bearing, I've also got a slight wine between 30/50 mph could this be the cause of it.

Is it still ok to drive ( short journeys) until repaired or replaced.

General consensus is that changing the whole shaft is the better option. The bearing can be changed but if you're paying someone to do it it'll probably be no cheaper than a straight shaft swap. Changing the shaft also gives you a nice new UJ/CV at each end too. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

New shaft it will be then, just seems a bit pants paying that just because a rubber is worn, as you say new UJ/CV as well. Thumbs Up

If it is just the rubber - some have reported good results from just filling it full of Sikaflex.

A word of warning though; I've used this stuff for sealing up deck fittings and the hull to keel joint on my boat and no compromise has been made to make it user friendly or easily removable. Once you get it on your hands you just have to wait for it to wear off! Acetone shifts it before it is properly cured but you don't really want to be using a lot of that on your skin. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE
