Hi All

Im a felly new owner off a 2008 TDV8 and I'm new to RRS's but I'm learning fast! Every now and then i get Special Programs Off after the system check. Can you please tell me or point me in the right direction that explains what these Special Programs are. I have replaced the battery and i have check the alternator an it holds a constant 14.5v when charging ? How do i turn these programs back on or do they turn back on automatically ?

Thanks in advance for your help

Dave.......

Special programs I would take to be the various settings for the various traction for snow, mud, ruts etc.

Another special programs could also refer to the 4x4 pages and FBH remote settings etc.
I'm sure someone will come along with a fuller/correct meanings there of. Very Happy Thumbs Up John

You probably don't do many miles in it, or you've put an underpowered battery in it.

Do a search on here for special programs,,, lots of threads as its a topic that frequently arises. Battery issues are one of the more common faults but blown lamps or cheap non landrover replacements can cause issues. abs sensors or the wiring leading to them has also been found to be a problem. 2010 RRS, TDV8

Yes they do - if the battery charge allows it try scrolling through the special program's looking for the response on the instrument display whilst the vehicle is running but in P or N Thumbs Up 16MY Estoril Blue SVR.............

Shocked below your gear selector there is a programme selector you toggle it left too right. This selects the various 4x4 capabilities for the terrain you wish to travel on - over Thumbs Up 16MY Estoril Blue SVR.............

As per Lrtopix Thumbs Up

TERRAIN RESPONSE OPERATION
Terrain Response selection is via one of two centre console switches. Depending on vehicle specification, the control switches may include a Dynamic program setting. Use the switches to move through up to five program selections. The currently selected program icon will be displayed in the message centre.Note: Changing between special programs will alter various vehicle settings, e.g., engine revs while at the current accelerator pedal position may alter, or the steering feel might change. These changes are not dramatic but will be noticable. It is advisable to experiment with the available settings in an environment that will not affect other road users.

If the system becomes partially inoperable for any reason, it may not be possible to select special programs. A warning will be given when selection of a special program is attempted. If a participating vehicle system becomes temporarily inoperable, the general program will be automatically selected. Once the system returns to normal operation, the previously active program will be re-activated unless the ignition has been turned off in the mean time.If the system becomes completely inoperable, all of the special program indicators will be switched off and a relevant message will be displayed in the message centre.

Assumign the battery is ok, and it is just lack of drive time allowing the discharge you should consider a conditioning charger - CTEK do some great ones, and even better you can charge through the towing electrics if you have them (13 pin or 7S socket (not the N socket). - you can also hardwire a "comfort connector" into place. - Adapter for tow bar charging is available from the shop on here -

Kind Regards

Colin
