Wheel bearing and front drive shaft required.

As the title suggests,

I'm looking for a front wheel bearing and drive shaft for a 2006 2.7 TDV6 Sport.

I replaced the drivers side wheel bearing last week due to noise and excessive play. Was a pretty straight forward job to be honest and i never thought about checking the passenger side.

Then today whilst out and about i heard a grinding noise from the passenger side wheel bearing. Jacked the car up and rightly so the wheel bearing is knackered. Im pretty sure someone has had this hub apart recently as the hub nut indent was chewed up and threads on the drive shaft are pretty badly gouged and the hub retaining bolts weren't exactly tight.

I need to get parts ASAP and get back on the road as soon as possible as i have got a race meeting this week and need the range rover for towing.

Where do you guys recommend for reasonable prices and fast/efficient delivery to Scottish Highlands.

Any information would be appreciated

I've just bought a few bits from Paddocks, good price and it arrived quite quickly, not sure about Scotland though. Only downside is they don't seem to have that many of parts for the RRS 2006 Java Black HST Supercharged

Advanced Factors on this forum. Always been quick and good prices. Thumbs Up 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

If you buy a new driveshaft, you will also need a new hub nut. The thread was changed at some point, and the old nit will no longer fit Thumbs Up

Been caught out with that before Evil or Very Mad

I was caught out with a different sized hub nut on my Discovery TD5 when trying to change the hub at the side of the road miles away from home. Had to go into a nearby garage and beg to borrow a socket! Embarassed 2006 Java Black HST Supercharged

Thanks for the info guys Thumbs Up

I'll give advanced factors a call first thing tomorrow and get something sorted out.
Will the hub nut that is supplied with the wheel bearing not be the same thread as the new drive shaft ??

When changing the hub, after the bolts are taken out, can you just pull it off, or is it a press fit? seems to be conflicting info when ive looked into doing it! 2006 Java Black HST Supercharged

Are you hoping to replace the bearing assembly ??

After the 4 x bearing assembly bolts and the drive shaft nut is removed push back the drive shaft from the hub.
Then give the wheel flange a good few blows with your favourite persuasion tool of choice. It will eventually start to move.

As long as the drive shaft has been pushed back then yes it just needs a good whacking.
The bearing i did last week took a good beating to get apart.

Is a hammer easy enough, or would a slide hammer be a worthwhile investment? 2006 Java Black HST Supercharged

A hamer was good enough for me mate. Id imagine a good quality heavy duty slide hammer would make it a little easier Thumbs Up
