United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Zambezi Silver
Brembo brakes

Took my car in to the dealer to fix the brakes that are squeaking again. I had them deglazed 3 months ago and that got rid of the squeaking, but the squeaking came back. The dealer called me just now telling me that since I have a supercharged with brembo brakes, that even if they deglaze it again the squeaking will come back after 200 miles. He says the squeaking is normal with the brembo brakes and it can't be fixed. It's how the car is.

Is that really true???

YY I doubt it. I think you are the first to complain about this so I doubt it's normal. Just point your dealer to this forum and ask why no one of our 800 members have complained to date (Except you) 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten

Well the service guy was telling me that since I have high performance brakes that unfortunately the downside is that they make the squeaking noise. Basically he said all supercharged models have brakes that will make this noise.. and the noise is a normal part of the product.

I understand that some cars will have squeaking brakes once in a while, and a few people on this forumj have also had squeaking brakes, but I just don't believe £60k doesn't buy you brakes that don't squeak.

Have any of you had a good solution to this issue that for some reason this dealer doesn't realize?

Tell the service guy that he is talking out of his a**e. Evil or Very Mad

Dealerships make me sick with stupid comments like this. Land Rover are working really hard to improve the quality image of our vehicles, only to be let down by idiotic dealerships like this.

Name and shame the dealer please YY.

Update

Got more info from the service manager on this brake squeaking problem.. the brembo brakes create a lot of dust that will call cause this noise.. if the car is driven over motorways and heat builds up then the dust is no longer a problem.

In my case however I don't get out on the motorway every single day (only 5000 miles in 12 months).. I have a short city commute and the dust continues to build up because of the type of city driving, causing the brakes to squeak.. he said if the car is driven for short trips like that, then the squeaking will come back after a while ven after "deglazing" the brakes.

He told me LR will only reimburse a LR dealer for one deglazing of the brakes per car to fix this brembo squeak issue and only in the car's first year of warranty.

You need to speak to Land Rover Customer Support on this. I still can't believe the attitude of your Dealership.

The address for LR Customer Support has been posted on here many times before and I'm sure someone will post it for you again.

Good luck. Arctic Frost TDV6 SE. Aspen Leather, Cherry Wood, Privacy Glass, PTI, Tow Pack, Mudflaps, Tasmods, a new Fuelflap, a RRSport.co.uk umbrella in the boot & a RRSport.co.uk sticker on the rear glass.

Thanks guys. Dealer has fixed the problem without charging me for the deglazing again, but it was clear that should the problem recur (which they told me it probably would after 200 miles) i would be looking at paying about 1 hour's labour each time. It just wasn't clear from the dealer why LR considers this problem not to fall under warranty after 1 year.

Right now the car is back to normal, the squeaking is gone, and the creaking and clanging underneath the car has been fixed. Finally! When the RRS works well it feels amazing to drive, but when it starts making noises you feel you bought an old banged up Fiat.
