Read your warranty documents VERY carefully, and find out the max claim limit

Yeah - if oil pump failed and bearing )shells) were damaged , there is likely to be a lot of other damage too. You need to find a similar mileage engine from a wreck or a professionally rebuilt engine. |

also , the wear on the shells could this not be down to general wear ? and totally coincidental ? as soon as the warning lights flashed up i pulled over and was only doing 10mph .... |

Jaguar Land Rover neither sell parts to repair the bottom end of a TDV6, nor have JLR released repair instructions for the same engine. So how an LR technician can decide if it is repairable is questionable. In addition (with it being a PSA unit) both Peugeot and Citroen also do not sell parts to repair the engine I think that tells you all you need to know about a "recon" engine I presume the body is off the car, engine removed and stripped down? |

In all honesty, id have lost the plot after 5 weeks, and told them to shove the car

Oil pump failure is about as serious as it gets. You would be very lucky to be able to rebuild the engine even if the bits were available.

I think the reason they have had it so long is that they have had a lot of other work on at the moment and as they have gave me a car to use ...fixing my car has not been a priority.

Once the car has been repaired what do you expect any independent 'expert' to see; a visual "lift the hood' might show a nice clean engine so what?
