Steering wheel wobble under braking

Hi,

I have read a few threads on here but nothing quite giving a solution to my problem!

I have a 2010 3.0 TDV6 HSE which is wobbling under braking. It is not tyre balancing as it only happens under braking. I have replaced the front discs and pads (old ones were slightly warped), front lower arms (some play but not dramatic) and front wheel hubs (old ones were slightly warped) but it is still there.

There is a Land Rover bulletin saying that under such circumstances the process is to change the discs & pads, then lower arms, then hubs, then steering rack and then steering wheel (weights in the steering wheel can become unbalanced?!). Typical Land Rover, no direct solution, just a bloody good way to earn money on parts!

So I am at least £1500 down and f***ed if I am going to spend another £1500 on a reconditioned steering rack and steering wheel.

Can anyone help?!?!?!

Cheers

Well beyond my pay grade, but I'd still put my money on warped discs. Worth checking the rear ones?

Nor had I, but apparently that is what it says on a LR bulletin according to Autologic!

Rear ones shouldn't cause the wobble through the steering wheel, should feel it through the seat? What is worrying is that there is a specific LR bulletin about this specific issue, but no conclusive solution! Sounds like a Land Rover!

Warped discs would mostly be felt as pulsing through the brake pedal ...wobble could be worn lca bushings - tie rods - etc. I'd take it to a different indie - or suspension shop familiar with lr and get their opinion.

The car is going into a different garage tomorrow; anyone had any similar experiences or known remedies before I drop it off?! Thanks.

TTF,

I understand another option to try is a complete 4 wheel alignment.

I think that is one of the plans but I cannot see how the alignment will affect a wobble only under braking and only through the steering wheel and not the brake pedal?!
