United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black

Thanks for the replies and information, i think i am just going to replace the bad EGR valve with a new one (well a mechanic friend is).

Is this the correct valve (I need the nearside EGR valve for 3.6 TDV8)?

I read somewhere that i will also need the gaskets to go with it, is this the correct part?

I also read from Disco_Mikey that it would help to use different bolts to bolt it back on, what size/type of bolts would these be?

Thank you! 57 Reg TDV8 - Java Black - Privacy Glass - Side Steps Smile

Why not call up a Land Rover dealership (with your VIN # to hand) and ask them to confirm the Part Numbers?

If it were me I would 'phone the dealership that has annoyed me the most by being offhand, useless or ripping me off. Thumbs Up 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE

Will blanking the EGR valve change any values in emissions test? Just thinking about stringent MOT.

At present, blanking EGR valves will only improve MOT readings (smoke test) because they increase particulate matter. It is possible that diagnostic testing could be introduced in the future, but methods are ready to tackle that if the need arises (emulators). Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

Can this be done on a supercharged? Or is it a diesel thing? And does it improve performance and/or Mpg?

Ah, yes, it's a diesel thing really - the 4.4/4.2 does have an EGR valve but it doesn't cause such trouble and soot build up like the diesels.

Blanking the EGRs doesn't increase performance above standard, but it will restore it to full power if the valves are failing. A small increase in MPG is normally reported.

@Paddi, no it isn't the same kit hence the slightly higher cost. BAS is selling the kit and the software patch if you're interested with positive results.

Ah OK thanks - the kits not listed on BAS website so I need to ring them? The EGR patch via IID tool is listed though. Thumbs Up

Contacted BAS and asked if they sell a blanking kit for the TDV8; answer 'no sorry'. Very helpful I must say.

So where does one get a kit from? Can't believe this is so hard to answer. 2008 MY Java Black TDV8 HSE
