Wales 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Lux Sumatra Black

The reason I wanted/needed one, (I have the 7.0) is because even though I have a good battery,
For some reason with the short runs and trips abroad for up to 20 days, I arrive back at airport to a flat battery. Censored
I didn't realise the drain caused by alarm monitoring, tracker etc would run it down. I have had LR check the battery, and they have confirmed it is fine, and said due to type of use, it either needs a permanent trickle charge or a full charge every 4-5 days. They did say they could fit LR version of this. Laughing
Not sure if this is correct, and didn't expect security systems to run battery down, but anyway that's why I have mine.
Anyone else had problems with airport parking drain and short runs? I also of course do long runs as well (this last year 16000 miles). John

I know jaguar used to make them last 28 days without a tracker.

You would want at least 14 days for a holiday.

It maybe worth you getting a big solar charger for use at the airport.
It won't be perfect but should help.

Does your RRS have a socket that remains live with the ignition off? My 2007MY TDv8 and 2005MY 2.7TDV6 both had auxiliary sockets that stayed on after the key was removed, my 2015MY doesn't Big Cry .

If they do then I can highly recommend the £9.99 Maplin solar panel battery trickle charger. It has a blocking diode so the panel will not flatten the battery at night too. It plugs into the city lighter or auxiliary socket and charges the battery through that, just leave the panel below the sunroof if you have one or on top of the dash where it will get daylight on it. Mine even used to charge the battery of my FFRR when the car was covered in snow as these panels need only a small amount of daylight to work. It is only since 2011 when smart alternators came into use that I started to have battery problems and the cars since have not had a live socket when the ignition is off - they have all also had the press button starter, in case that has any bearing on it, previous cars all had an old fashioned key start. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

There is a mod to make the fag lighter sockets live on the early models. (bypass the relay basically)

That mod is how I did it in my L320 Black Edition - was connecting the CTEK to the socket in the boot. Sockets in L494 can also be made perm live similarly and that was the set up I was originally using for my CTEK. See step 11 in this write up to bypass the relay and make rear sockets live all the time: http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/post473608.html#473608 The guide is slightly unrelated (hardwiring a dash cam) but I just did the relay/socket mod while at it. Since then I have hardwired a comfort connector in the fuse box and undone the mod. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top
