I'm slightly biased as I can remap this for you...

Having said that, I've always been sceptical of remaps, until I did mine.
It's transformed the drive ability of the car and since the wife bought q caravan, it makes it a lot easier to tow up hills, overtaking corsa boys with the caravan on the back.... Wink

On your year, you will need to have an additional update of you blank the EGR valves, to stop the EML coming on.
Mine is an 07 so had to have the same.
Again, I can blank map and EGR software delete.

So the only other advice to give you, is that make sure that you don't go and get yourself a generic map,M where they just tell it to up the fuel pressure and then delete 26 fault codes including low fuel pressure, turbo over boost to name just two!

I'm a BAS reseller who only deal with LR/RR products. Not as cheap as the generic mappers, but then you get what you pay for.... Bodsys Brake Bible

I just had my 08 TDV8 done at Rovertune by Alive tuning. I always thought it was a bit disappointing for the engine size, now it really does drive like a V8 should.

I can only echo what Ian has said here, having been on the receiving end of a Censored remap

There are right ways and wrong ways to make power. Upping the fuel pressure and boost limits are not the correct ways to do so, and will likely harm engine and driveline components, as I found out to the tune of £7,000 Big Cry

I done the 14 hour round trip to have mine done at Alive HQ. Not going to lie, I lost a bit of torque and a bit of power, but not noticeably so. When Gary was finished, it drove better, it smoked less, and I didn't have to worry about it blowing up

Stick with an LR specialist tuner, and you won't go wrong Thumbs Up

Haven't had my RRS done (yet) but had a mild remap done on my old X5 and it was well worth it! Done by a friend of a friend who knows his stuff, gains of about 20% in horses and torque, fuel consumption improved by around 8% too, although very hard to measure accurately.
As mentioned, stay clear of generic maps, and piggy-back style boxes to be on the safe side.

I'm tempted to have this done on my TDV6. What can I expect in terms of improved driveability and economy? Those are my main drivers as opposed to power. I do most of my driving in central london

You can expect more pull from the lower end, and it should also feel 'lighter on it's toes' in the mid range too.
All other things being equal, fuel economy should improve by a touch (acceleration is what kills the economy, so might be worse in central London), and if you clog it, expect your fuel bills to go skyward!

My own driving is working out 6% improvement in economy. I use the power when needed, but I do drive a very mixed set of roads and about 30,000 a year.

Some people have claimed 15% improvement, so somewhere between is probably about right. Bodsys Brake Bible

would it affect any warranties I look to take out? My last car was remapped (mercedes c320 cdi) and it was really quick but I felt more confident about its reliability than I do with this RRS.

I'd suggest you go for it, for the performance gains, and don't expect any economy improvements, so if you do get them it will be a bonus. Thumbs Up

Warranty - can't speak personally, but you should probably tell them. Pretty sure there are plenty with a remap and a warranty around.

Reliability - the most important thing (aside from ensuring it's a reputable, safe map) is to make sure the transmission is up to it. Recalling from the other day, at your low mileage this certainly shouldn't be an issue. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

TDV8 Remap

Hi and hello hello as I'm new to the RRS Forum but not to other LR Forums.

I have a TDV8 2008 YM with 89k and although it's new to me it has had an upgrade on the fuelling.
I'm led to believe it's an Autologic remap.tune possibly marketed under the garages own name. A specialist in Perthshire of a good reputation.

However as tunes goes it's a bit lumpy and unpredictable with sudden surges not inputted by my right foot !! and at best I get 21mpg. Might have had 25 but I need to try again !! PS: Not expecting miracles here !!
She Really does get up and go I have to say and is a great drive. Just don't want to blow another turbo with a possible overfuel....but I may be wrong !

Im thinking of a BAS remap or JE Works replacement as I know they are 100%

Does anyone rate Autologic?
Re above I might add I had to have 2 new turbos fitted just under 1000 miles of ownership which as you know is anything but small fry !!! however we came to a somewhat mutually agreement on the repair ........Oucha... and more ouch for him I'm afraid !! Seems its been a good repair and usual jobs done while there...brake pipes.heater exhaust etc etc. Might add the supplying garage were honest to the Tee and although it was exceptionally frustrating they just got on with the job and I will deal with them again for sure. So not on here to have a blast at them.
Look forward to the reply.
Regards, Scottydog

Welcome. Smile

Perhaps get Pete Bell to have a look at your file, and see if he thinks it's not safe or needs tweaking. He's an honest guy and if he thinks it's fine or can't do anything with it then he'll say. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK
