I don't believe you are comparing apples with apples when comparing an RRS2 and Porsche Macan. The only real comparison is between the RRS HSE and a Cayenne Diesel. These vehicles are of comparable power and size. The Macan is quite a bit smaller than an RRS and would be more comparable to the new Disco Sport. I owned a Cayenne Diesel S (2012 model) prior to purchasing the the RRS. Why did I change? The principal reason for changing was the distance I had to travel to get to a dealer. The closest is in Aberdeen, which is a 210 mile round trip. However, I didn't need to use them for anything other than planned maintenance during my ownership period. When I did the dealers (Porsche Centre Aberdeen - Peter Vardy), were excellent. Always had a replacement car available, appointments made according to my convenience, never any problems with work not performed etc. etc. In addition to this, when I did sell the car, I only lost £10,000 in depreciation over 2 years and 4 months ownership!!! You'll loose that much on an RRS after the 4 months!!! The thing that really turned me against another Porsche was price. Initially when you look at the purchase price of both basic vehicles they seem comparable. However with the Porsche - Metallic Paint £900 extra, Infotainment System (other than a basic radio) - £2,200 extra, FULL Leather interior - £1,800 extra, blah di blah di blah. When you really start comparing the two vehicles the Porsche comes out as being a LOT more expensive for not a lot more performance. I am very happy with my RRS HSE. I feel it is better value for money and provides everything I need as standard (well almost!) with the added benefit of having the most northerly LR dealer (MacRae & Dick who have provided flawless service to date) just 4 miles from the house. Don't know if this helps you out at all, but from my experience, I am very satisfied. Not sure this will be the same when I come to change the car in a couple of years time given the probable depreciation!!! Thanks to all for the feedback, and especially Jock as you gave a good feel from both sides of the fence. It has been very helpful in keeping me on track. |

It's what you feel on the cheeks when you come to pay at the petrol station. |
