Car Cover

Can anybody recommend a car cover for the L494?

My car is kept in a locked garage and sometimes not used for a couple of weeks and dust manages to accumulate on it. I just want to protect it from the dust especialy after it has been washed ans waxed.

Cheers

Hi Viper,

Seen that one. A lot of the Land Rover products seem to be a bit overpriced and you can get better quality from specialists - like their car seat covers. I just thought I would see if anybody has used anybody else for a car cover.

I use one for my toy, but not my RRS.

Bought from here..

Not sure they do one for the new RRS though. Might be worth a call.
Go down to any body repair garage and ask them for a couple of those light weight plastic sheets they throw over cars to protect them from over spray when painting. Thumbs Up

Plastic definitely simplest but just be careful car completely dry when you cover it. Cheapest breathable should be much less than LR – my last one was about £120 from carcovers.co.uk. It's grey and not as well-shaped as Ady's but is lasting well.

All LR accessories outrageously priced. Expect there's a thread somewhere but most extreme I've seen is the 13 to 7-pin towing electrics adaptor: £55.80 from LR, absolutely identical on web £5.59.

I finally got fed up with my car parked up in my garage for a couple of weeks and having to wash it again because of the dust that had accumulated on it. So off work at the moment recovering from an operation and had time to research and order a cover. The Land Rover product seems pretty reasonable compared to other covers on the market.

So I called Lookers Parts in Battersea (where I bought my car from) to buy one. A chap in parts said that he will have one in 2 days time. Great I thought - can you have it posted or couriered to my home address? "Errrm....no sir, we can't do that as we just don't post any stuff."

I explained to the chap that I was immobile (due to the op) for a few weeks and could they not make an exception and just post it to me and of course I will pay for the postage etc. The guy still refused even after I explained that Lookers were prepared to lose £371 sale of a part?

So I have bought one from Covercraft who were very helpful. This one would have been my first choice but for price. It is a bit more but a better cover and quite a bit lighter than the LR one. Custom made and I will have it in 2 weeks time.......delivered to my door!

Meant to post a picture of my car cover.

It is much lighter than I thought it would be. I have been recovering from two recent heart ops and hence limited mobility at the moment but it is still a doddle to put on / remove. These are made to measure and it arrived 2 weeks after ordering and the cost was £437 (inc VAT).

I bought the LR one but the worry is always that the car cover will grind any accumulated grit into the paintwork so I have ended up not using it. Mark
