Does anyone have an email address for the DVLA.
I sold my last Range Rover over 7 weeks ago and it had only been taxed for one week.
I paid it in full and at over £500 I was expecting a good refund to help pay for the TAX on my new to me Range Rover.
No refund as yet and have been told that 6 weeks is normal for them ?

A friend of mine paid over £1000 to tax a truck – a week later the Truck was registered as private and this dropped the tax rate down to just under £90.
That was 6 months ago – 3 letters and still no refund – how the hell do they get away with it.  Lot of Landcruisers now sold

I believe it is possible to buy a vehicle, SORN it when the V5C comes through and the refund come through to the new owner. This has happened to me recently, and never happened when I have bought and re-taxed. Might be worth checking if your old vehicle is currently SORNed

I will have a look but I would not think so, It was sold by the dealer a week after I traded it in.
Will check though.

No V5 needed, just reg and make. Will give you tax and MOT details

When I got rid of my Audi for the RRS, I SORN it on 31st (was picking up RRS on 1st). I had the cheque about a week later after gearing myself up for a wait.

That is what I tried but it wont find the car, may be because the reg was changed, I have transfred the plate to my new one but it wont find that one also.
Prob would if I used the V5 number.
I did try the reg on the old car that I bought it with but still no luck.

Are you putting in Range Rover or Land Rover. It won't find RR, only LR

I was using Range Rover
I have tried agin with Land Rover and it works with the new car but still wont find the old one.  Lot of Landcruisers now sold

Why the frock they couldn't leave the VED as it was I'll never know. Obviously they figured out a way to screw even more money out of people by introducing this new system

I think I'd be on the phone to them first thing. If you'd owed them the money you'd have had umpteen threatening letters by now

Yer right, I had one last week saying they were going to fine me for no tax or sorn on a reg.
I did not know what the reg was for so phoned them - big help they wont tell you - well did in the end.
It was for a Lawnmower I had just got, no reg plate on it and it will never be on the road, its for gutting grass.

That might be the new plan - fill all the pot holes with earth then grass them
They are a bunch of robbers.

They say they use it to fix roads, well just done a mile of road beside me, it was a good road with no holes and nice and smooth.

Don't be fooled into believing that any money from VED collection goes towards maintaining roads. The money just goes into the Treasuries General Fund and can be spent on anything the Government wishes. If all the VED collected were spent on road development and maintenance we would have highways as smooth as a billiard table!!!
