It's a bit pants really. Nice idea but poorly executed. 4 buttons that don't fit onto the screen without scrolling slightly and corrupted text that just sits top left. Maybe the developer will actually buy an  watch and test it next time.

It also has a beep and flash button built into the location function which doesn't work and the icon is terrible.

Apart from that I'll be using it daily Smile

Did it not cross their minds to perhaps use square buttons that would fit on the screen?

With a bit of luck they will have improved it by then. I could sort it out in about 20 minutes and a real developer in about 5.

I guess I should go and leave some constructive feedback on the app store.

I'm all for constructive feedback, but really the state of that can't of been developed by anyone that would consider themselves an IT professional / software developer. My 6 yr old nephew wouldn't do any worse.

For all we see on linked in about huge investment in infotainment, and connected technologies, I can't believe this is the offering made available. Big Cry

....And there seems to be no way of turning on the Park Heating either. If it's available on the iPhone, then why not the watch?
Now that would have actually been useful!

It's a pity also it can't appear as a Glance.

Not sure I agree with you, if you had all that info crammed onto that tiny screen the text would be too small to read, especially on the 38mm. They clearly have tested it or it wouldn't work Laughing

If they have tested it and think this is acceptable then they are not qualified to develop in this medium. I disagree with you on the size of buttons/text. There is plenty of room even on the 38. If the iconography was any good you wouldn't need text.

I'm happy they developed the app. I just wish the quality was up to the standard of the cars design wise. Let's hope it improves.

I doubt they designed it on opinions of whether its big enough or not, Apple will set guidelines that state minimum text sizes to make sure its legible at various sizes and in different lighting conditions, which I imagine they have to adhere too.

As for icons only, surely that wouldn't work for each of the menu items? Where your car is or climate control wouldn't make sense. Then if you have some with text and some without it becomes v inconsitent.

The text corruption top left is weird though I agree, probably need to get that sorted.

Anywho, I like it Cool

Icons would work fine without the text. The app is functional but poorly designed. Hopefully it will improve.

I disagree, icons need a label for context, plus you get more info without having to go into a section.

Agree to disagree, to me its a good piece of design, but without the logic of their decisions its difficult to comment.

I'm sure there's more thought gone into it than we know!

A good icon doesn't need text. If you look at the app screen of an Apple Watch you won't see any text. The good icons don't need it.

Either way there is room for the 4 high level buttons to fit onto the screen with or without text without any scrolling/zooming and or panning. If the entry point the GUI is 4 high level buttons then they should fit/fill the single screen with scaling for bigger/smaller screens. It shouldn't be a question of opinion but simply binary rules of good ergonomics and UI design.

(edited to sound slightly less of an ass)

This in my opinion is its biggest downfall, even if the glance just allowed you to Lock/Unlock along with the current status.
