SDV6 0r 4.4 V8

I'm sure this has been asked of the new models.

I have always liked my 2007 V8 which was far superior to the V6 Thumbs Up

But know i'm not so sure Shocked

Just about to jump back in and buy a new RRS.

Not sure the V8 makes much sense with new V6 being so strong. I'd have the SDV8 in the FFRR but in the RRS I'd go SDV6. The lower mass over the front wheels will help the handling in the sportier vehicle. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

the 4.4 TDV8 wins hands down, it is far better power to weight ratio, the V6 is under powered when towing in my opinion, just got rid of a RRS2 3.0 and have driven a 4.4 several times and there is no comparison! None currently

302bhp/516lbft is underpowered for towing? What the hell are you towing? Shocked

My 3.6TDV8 tows a 2.5 tonne horse trailer easily and it's well down on those figures in a vehicle that weighs more. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Well to be fair if they had offered the 302 HP V6 unit in the L405, rather than the measly 254 HP version then I would have happily went for a V6 instead.

Quite a few members on the FFRR site actually prefer the V6 engine over the V8 as they find more refined, smoother and more economical , which I probably have to agree with.

Overall, I do like the 4.4 V8 however I just don't think there is much in it between the V6 & V8 and it just comes down to personal preference. Have you considered the 5.0L S/C? If I was in your position I would go for the 3.0L

Have you considered the 5.0L S/C? Much better engine IMO 2014 L405 SDV8 RR Autobiography Cool

In RRS2 you have to have an Autobiograpghy to have the SDv8, it isn't available in HSE or HSE Dynamic, so although the performance figures are not that much different prices are in a different league. When I was looking at another RRS as a replacements for the Evoque several dealers that i spoke to tried to put me off buying the 4.4 as not being worth the extra cost! Even after the 3.6 TDv8 the latest 3.0l V6 is streets ahead of it in all but exhaust noise, the pickup and refinement want for nothing (even on 22" wheels and tyres) they are as much as most folks will want or even need, at the moment over the last 3 tanks of fuel I'm also seeing >39mpg cruising at 60mph in 8th gear. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Tim. Yes I was shocked that the V8 is only available in autobiography (stupid L.R).

Looks like I shall go SDV6 Thumbs Up but will miss V8 Big Cry In the original an extra 5k bought you the wonderful V8 but 20K is daft.

I would also go V6. Size isn't everything. (The wife said sweetly)

I want a FF next because the RRS2 looks a bit too like the Evoque ( Rolling with laughter my wife said so, must be true. And, nervously, she's up for trying something a little bigger...)

I'm actually hoping they do a V6 petrol supercharged - but i won't hold my breath. I'm concerned about my low miles in a diesel and also about how we're going to get hammered with taxes and "congestion" charges in the future just for driving diesel. L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)...
