Not sure the V8 makes much sense with new V6 being so strong. I'd have the SDV8 in the FFRR but in the RRS I'd go SDV6. The lower mass over the front wheels will help the handling in the sportier vehicle. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

the 4.4 TDV8 wins hands down, it is far better power to weight ratio, the V6 is under powered when towing in my opinion, just got rid of a RRS2 3.0 and have driven a 4.4 several times and there is no comparison! None currently

Well to be fair if they had offered the 302 HP V6 unit in the L405, rather than the measly 254 HP version then I would have happily went for a V6 instead.

In RRS2 you have to have an Autobiograpghy to have the SDv8, it isn't available in HSE or HSE Dynamic, so although the performance figures are not that much different prices are in a different league. When I was looking at another RRS as a replacements for the Evoque several dealers that i spoke to tried to put me off buying the 4.4 as not being worth the extra cost! Even after the 3.6 TDv8 the latest 3.0l V6 is streets ahead of it in all but exhaust noise, the pickup and refinement want for nothing (even on 22" wheels and tyres) they are as much as most folks will want or even need, at the moment over the last 3 tanks of fuel I'm also seeing >39mpg cruising at 60mph in 8th gear. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Tim. Yes I was shocked that the V8 is only available in autobiography (stupid L.R).

You won't miss anything Baron! I've had the 3.6 TDv8 in both RRS and FFRR............ the 2015MY V6 is the better engine and 2016MY out now has even more torque than 2015MY! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
