Hi all,

Recently realised after i park the car, the car lowers itself when i pull out the key,
But only the rear of the car lowers itself, and not the front.

Is this normal? Or is the whole car suppose to lower itself and just not the rear,
Assuming the front should lower aswell as the rear.

Mine does it too - it's usually the OSF that drops down with a bit a whooshing sound. Freaked me out at first but now I know it's just compensating for being 16 stone lighter on that corner when I get out

My driveways level and even, but always its just the back that lowers itself.

Maybe something's not right on mines then...

I'm not an expert my any stretch of the imagination but if it were me I'd be suspecting an air leak from my rear suspension

How could i check this?

Remembering from past topics on here you should have a play with putting the suspension into 'off road' height and seeing if you get any errors such as 'car rising slowly' or something similar.
Alternatively if not a leak my other guess would be ride height sensors but I'm sure someone who knows a bit more about this stuff will be along soon to give you a more technical answer.

In the meantime id have a play around with the search facility and see if you see anyone else with other similar symptoms.

Yep I would say it's a sensor that's gone wrong, book it in with a good mechanic who has the proper software to run it and diagnose the fault.

I'm pretty sure I've read that if you park up and disconnect the battery (or pull the appropriate fuses) and the car still lowers then you have a leak... However if it no longer drops then you have a sensor/electronic problem that causes the car to erroneously adjust the height to keep the car 'level'.

Reverse onto your drive and see if the rear still lowers? 2006 RRS SC Bonatti Grey (the 55th car/van I have owned)
