Servicing Stop.co.uk - £106.37 for Service??

Just been online and found a site that offers Full service for £106.37??

Its called servicingstop.co.uk, anyone heard of them or used them? £106 seems cheap to me, although it is apparently an "easter offer" with 30% off the usual £152 cost.

That price sounds like what it ought to cost but...

Just make sure you check these 3 main things if you do use them:

1) Use the correct oil

2) Use OEM filters (the cost is so little for these anyway)

...and most importantly...

3) They locate the spigot in the oil filter correctly - If they don't it's goodbye engine.

I just think that if one is going to skrimp & save on a service, what else does one hold back on?

If you go for cheap services then people might think you try to save money by getting cheap parts too and fix any problems with inferior or cheap copy parts.

It's worth getting a proper job done then when you come to sell it, people will see this.

It's not shrimping, it's simply asking.

If you can buy a jar of Nescafé in one shop for £2, and in another shop it's £5, where are you going to buy it??

The parts for the service are cheap, it's the labour that costs. Let's face it, lots of people service their own cars, unless it's one of the major services.

I just don't fall for the illusion that because you spend lots of money, you get a better job done. Lots of people comment on the poor service and lack of knowledge they receive from some dealerships.

Anyway, as the saying goes, "a fool and his money are soon parted." 2006 HSE for Sale - £7,499 (Manchester)

I'm not convinced about that argument - I think it's one of those myths that's been invented by the motor trade. I would be amazed, for example, if the retained value on a "full dealer service history" was enough to off set the much higher cost to service compared to a decent indie. I think people believe it to be the case because dealers tell them it is.

As for "proper job", the LR stamp in the service book is hardly an indication of a good job done well these days, sadly!

If I was looking to buy a RRS at the moment, the " danger signs" would be cheap tyres on big wheels, rather than a strange service stamp... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

My wife has used them a couple of times to get her Peugeot serviced and MOT'd with no problems. Seemed pretty efficient - they picked her car up from her work when arranged and dropped it off later the same day. If you want them to use a specific oil then you have to pay a bit extra which seems fair enough.

That's pretty neat - everything you need all packaged together. Was that the kit you mentioned earlier? Think I'll be going down that route with my Supercharged in a couple of months... Smile

To be fair though I know a lot of people who would look in that box and shrug their shoulders... if you haven't got the skills (or inclination) then you've not got much choice but to pay someone to do it for you and trust they do it properly... Neutral
