LED TAIL LIGHT FAULT

Hi folks
Newbie here so go easy on my!
I have a 2008 RRS 2.7 there is a fault with the offside rear tail light
They are led and as far as I can see they are standard fitment
The side lights come on but the offside seems a little brighter than the near side one.
When I press the brake pedal with the side lights on the offside appears not to come on the near side works as it should
However if I put the side lights off the offside stop light does come on though it is extremely dull hence why I can't see it with the side lights on!

Got me puzzled this one has anyone had this issue before??

Cheers guys

Have you checked the terminals?.....may have a corrosion problem or an iffy contact.
Thumbs Up I was born with a photographic memory. Shame it didn't develop!

I had the lamp unit completely off the car and unplugged
It all seemed ok no "green" corrosion on the pins in the multi plug

.....sounds like a wobbly cable in the back of plug socket.
Maybe give each one a little tug and see if it's loose.
Could just be shorting out.
Are they led bulbs or an after market led rear unit? I was born with a photographic memory. Shame it didn't develop!

You might want to check the earthing point nearest to the offending tailight. Usually it's like a captive bolt with several wire terminals and a nut holding them on - worth cleaning up any corrosion. 2011 TDV6 HSE Stornoway grey, ivory trim

Life's too short to drive an ugly car.

It's the full unit with the led's built in doesn't look aftermarket and not individual bulbs.
I will check in the morning take the unit out again and look at each wire
Cheers

Thanks for that tip I will take the unit out tomorrow and trace the wires back to find an earth point. Thumbs Up
