2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

There are lots of well looked after RRS's for sale out there so don't get disheartened, just remember that there is no such thing as a "bargain" RRS - good ones are expensive and cars with low looking prices are usually expensive to repair to make run well - why else would someone sell one cheaply? All Land Rover prodcuts benefit hugely from TLC from people who know how they work and suffer quickly if services are missed or faults not fixed quickly - they are hugely complex machines. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

That's a nice car but alas too old for me, I'm after the newer interior.

It should be nice & smooth to drive, gear changes should be smooth & quick. No black smoke when you put your foot down (stuck or gummed up EGR valves can cause this). It should drive straight. On a slightly uneven road at low speed there should be no thumps or rattles from the front suspension (worn antiroll bar bushes cause this, especially on models with 'Dynamic' setting on terrain response). Try 'dabbing' the brakes at low speed to test for worn bushes, you'll hear a knock if they are.
Brakes should be powerful with no pulling or jerkiness. All electrics should work & there should be no warning lamps on dash once engine is started.
Suspension should go down & up again quickly with no warnings on dash. Press suspension down button, car should drop the front end first, wait for it to settle then press it up again, wait for it to level out & press it up again into 'off road' height. Car should raise back end first (to avoid headlamps dazzling other road users at night). Press the infotainment screen to 'menu' & then '4x4' & have a look at the little line above each wheel on the screen, it should be white line IIRC. A red line could indicate a fault with that wheel sensor.

Some of the above is obvious really, so apologies & no offence intended.

I'm sure someone else will be along soon with more advice.

Good luck. Thumbs Up I'm in the shed, I'll be back in the real world in a minute.
