There are lots of well looked after RRS's for sale out there so don't get disheartened, just remember that there is no such thing as a "bargain" RRS - good ones are expensive and cars with low looking prices are usually expensive to repair to make run well - why else would someone sell one cheaply? All Land Rover prodcuts benefit hugely from TLC from people who know how they work and suffer quickly if services are missed or faults not fixed quickly - they are hugely complex machines. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

It should be nice & smooth to drive, gear changes should be smooth & quick. No black smoke when you put your foot down (stuck or gummed up EGR valves can cause this). It should drive straight. On a slightly uneven road at low speed there should be no thumps or rattles from the front suspension (worn antiroll bar bushes cause this, especially on models with 'Dynamic' setting on terrain response). Try 'dabbing' the brakes at low speed to test for worn bushes, you'll hear a knock if they are.
