Definitely!

That engine and grip will shred normal tyres Bow down

We do have retreaded tyres at work that take 200mph and lots of tons weight though.

Ordered the stealth 22" for mine but only got a measley 306hp!!! Mr. Green

Yes, easy to think that the tyre only has to support its share of the static weight of the car but the tyre loading increases considerably under acceleration, braking or cornering. The higher the performance of the car, the greater these dynamic loads and the heavier the car is, the worse it gets. So, to my mind, tyres are critical on the SVR and you don't want to find them lacking when you are swerving to avoid that on-coming artic... Mark

Absolutely. Don't skimp on tyres and get the correct ones for the job! All are a compromise on the road though. I have full winters on my rear wheel drive BMW. It is unusable on the normal 19" summer tyres in poor weather.

For info (Mark, I'd pm'd you before reading the thread)

Rest assured there are 21" and 22" Winter spec tyres available for the SVR (albeit the 22"s are 275s). Like all winter tyres, they do recommend a maximum speed (are you really going to do 162 in snow? Very Happy )

The 22" 295 wheels bolt straight on - the car is compatible to both but for legal reasons you would need to fit spats. However, these don't like being removed so would advise leaving on.

There is no 20" wheel available for SVR due to the carbon brake scoop fitted to the caliper. This requires a minimum 21" rim.
Equally the car is not configured for 20" wheels and tyres anyway.

Hope that helps?

So it looks like the shopping list is 4 rims, 4 tyres, 4 TPMS valves/sensors, 4 wheel centres, 4 spats painted. I think £6k is low! LOL. Thanks for the helpful info Dave.

Harry Metcalfe says on Twitter he hopes his video review of the SVR will be back soon. It will be interesting to see if anything has been edited out when it's back. They say a picture tells a thousand words, in this case it's the soundtrack while spills the beans. Mark

Yes, good to see it back, can't see any reason why it was pulled for a few days or any changes because it was. Mark

Great video thanks for the link. I would love to upset the biddy next door with that exhaust - she gets upset by another neighbour's Renault Traffic Van's diesel rattle at 05;30 every morning! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
