Set the take me home to somewhere near home. My current car takes me to a nearby petrol station. Solves that issue!

Thanks Mark. Great report.

I've never programmed the Take Me Home thing in any of my cars, and if I did, wouldn't put my address it - the last thing I would want some scrote who nicked my car to know is where I live!

Mine is programmed to take them to the police station closest to my house! That way if I want to use it it gets me somewhere near home and I know my way from there but takes the aforementioned scrote where he needs to go!

So as well as enjoying the Lincolnshire Air Heritage Museum in Spilsby, today I've been exploring what can only be called hooligan mode with this car.

Selecting Dynamic Chassis Mode, Sport Gearbox Mode and Sports Exhaust On pushes the car into another dimension. The car holds lower gears much longer and the handling is even tighter. Always in the right gear to accelerate out of a corner and storm away.

The best bit is yet to come: the noise from the exhaust seems even more lively in this mode. On the overrun, there's banging and crackling through the exhaust when you lift your right foot. Simply glorious.

It's difficult to think of a more complete and versatile car for everyday driving enjoyment than this. Mark

Great write up Mark. Talking of biase of motoring journalists, you can bet your bottom dollar that when What Car? road tests it against a similar Porsche and BMW the SVR will come last no matter how good it is. It seems that What Car? cannot give any Land Rover product a decent constructive review. Their review will go something like "Land Rover supplied us with a car on road tyres and therefore it couldn't get through our test farm gate onto the field" They will of course conveniently forget that neither the Porsche or the BMW will get into the field on the tyres that are fitted as OEM either! LR should give one to Clarkson to play with for a week!

Great news Dickie, will be good to have more than one opinion to show I'm not talking from under my hat. I think Sally's is happening around now too. Mark

Mark_N is the new Clarkson (the good bits) - you heard it here first.

Also, see Autocar (not written by Mark_N):

Sadly, looks like Harry's video has been pulled for some reason which is a pity as it gives/gave a good impression of what the car is like.

I'm close to 1000 miles now with trips to Sussex next week and North Wales next weekend to do some serious driving ending with a visit to the Defender Celebration Exhibition in Solihull on Monday. The two petrolheads I am going with are much more interested in seeing this car than what would be the other new-kid-on-the-block for them, a 991 GT3. Easy to see how I will have done more than 2000 miles in the first month.

The car continues to thrill, the noise, the stepped changes from quiet and refined to rabid dog.

I'm finding that overtaking on less than full size roads requires some care because of the car's size. Previously, I've never found it an issue with a 911 or a Subaru and with my Evoque, I didn't have the power anyway, but now I do. I've had one or two instances where the car I'm overtaking has been clearly intimidated by the size and noise of the thing, not to mention its rapid acceleration, so some consideration is called for.

The stereo continues to impress, tried sitting in the back and the sound quality is just excellent, by far the best I have ever heard in a car, space filling, rock solid image.

I've finalised the source too and am using a current generation 64Gb iPod touch loaded with Apple lossless files, about 2100 of them by the time you've deleted apps you don't need which should be enough to keep me entertained. The sound quality is clearly better with lossless than with MP3, the sense of ambience extraordinary. Mark

I wonder if those you have been overtaking initially think that they are being overtaken by a motorbike with the exhaust in dynamic mode and then realise it is a very large car as you pass? 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I had a spare day today so I have been out and about at the main dealers looking at all the options, exterior colours and different interior combinations etc. On my travels came across an SVR in Estoril blue and must say it looked absolutely stunning in the showroom. I kept walking round and round it until I was dizzy, think the salesman thought I was crackers
